Linger Wilderness Survival Knife/Tracker Style

The only way to truly find that out if the knife is any good, is to get one in your hands and put it to work. There are ohhh so many people that can offer comments (their opinions, which they're entitled to) without basing their comments on fact. So quick to pass judgement and condemn something without factual or analytical data. I guess that's why the world has so many talkers but certainly, not enough do'ers.

most of the real out dorsmen only carry litteraly ****** folders or maybe a shittly fixed blade.

That depends on what you consider a "real outdoorsman." A hobbyist in the Western world who has a lifeline to civilization and will only be in the outdoors for a few days at most can probably get away without any knife at all, not that he would be intelligent to do so.

I consider a "real outdoorsman" someone who has to rely on his skills to live day-to-day. All the "real outdoorsmen" I've seen in the Philippines, people whose survival skills probably far surpass those of your so-called "outdoorsmen," carried bolos. Look around the third world, where people NEED their cutlery to survive, in South and Central America, Southern Asia, and Africa and you'll see that the people who live as a lifestyle what Westerers do for fun carry big blades such as bolos, machetes, goloks, parangs, and kukhris.

Are you suggesting that all these people are ignorant fools who are too stupid to know they should carry a small folder instead?

JJW,
I havn't skinned anything with the blade yet. I never said this style knife is the most perfect wilderness blade, My favorite knife is still my 4" Bushcraft knife. The tracker knife is a great survival blade that can handle many different tasks well, but not perfect. As for skinning animals, if you are primary a hunter this is not the one tool you should by lugging around with you, but if your into practicing survival skills this is an excellent tool for for shelter building, tool making, and I have no problems cutting open some tastey fish for my camp fire.

good for you for signing up to take a Brwon class. I read a majority of his books and share in his teachings. I hope you take to heart what Tom and his instructors teach you. The hardest thing in modern society is to think toward nature as our brother, and to live that philphosphy every day.

may you find enlightnment in mother Earth.
