I posted something about this before, but still have not been able to find a place where I can purchase one. Can I get any help? (and please don't start in on the 'cheap knock-off' stuff...I've heard it already and I tend to agree, but this kerambit-style knife doesn't look like a knock-off to me and I want one). Thanks!

Nice name for a knife..... Certainly helps the "useful tool" image

Do you have a pic of it?

Linton is a made in China knock off company that has recently copied other companies designs and ads. Do a search and you should be able to find one. But why would you want one?

I tried for ya but I couldn't come up with anything. Linton seems to like the designs of Steve Ryan. I found some kooky ad copy for the "dagger" push knife.
This Dagger, made of very high quality material is a kind of drop point knife useful while mountain or rock climbing, or camping...to nail the objects or for survival purposes. Its handle has a very smooth angle and material, thus offering a firm grip on in any condition. It is practical in use and easy to carry along.

...to nail the objects..?

Thanks for the knock, Gollnick. I guess I have no self respect. That comment just wasn't necessary. Yes, the name is very lame and inappropriate, but I like the design (there is a pic of it in the new TK), and I haven't seen another like it. If another company made a nice, slim, one piece kerambit, I'd buy it. Unfortunately, I have yet to see one. I stated right off the bat that I know Linton is a knock-off company, and I don't like to endorse that in any way, but if a company puts out a design I like made of good material, I'm gonna' buy it. I've never been a bandwagon-jumper or one to deprive myself of something just because others don't deem it 'cool'.

a thank you to you, too, Nuge.

Just tryin to help keep a fellow knifenut from making a mistake, and spending his hard earned moolah on some junk.

Danbo, I appreciate the concern, and thanks for being cool about it and not doubting my self respect ;) . I know Linton isn't a very reputable company. I just really like the design of this knife, and it is ATS-34. I also like the Cutters Knife and Tool kerambit that was suggested, but it is too wide in the blade for me, and out of my price range. The closest thing I own to a kerambit are my Spyderco SPOT knives, and they aren't really kerambit-like at all. I just want an inexpensive, but decent, kerambit to mess around with and see how I like it. If I like it enough to where I would want to carry one on the daily basis, I'll buy a really good one. Ya' know what I mean?

I hear ya, man! It's hard to find a cheap, one peice kerambit. Froogle isn't much help - even the sites that have Linto stuff don't have the knife you are looking for.

Berzerker, thanks for the link; good stuff. Like I stated, when I find a style that appeals to me (neck knife, kerambit, kukri, etc.), I like to buy something inexpensive to start out with just to get a feel for the style. I know that the feel of a knife can vary greatly dpending on the maker, but at least I can get a general sense of how that style will feel in my hand. A good example would be when I saw a cool little custom necker that was going for about 150. The design was similar to the CRKT Stiff KISS (especially in the handle), so I bought the KISS for about 28 bucks. I ended up not liking the feel of it as the handle just seemed too slick and didn't feel comfortable in my hand.

Many years ago in Paralegal school, I chose "legal self defense" as my research project - and ever use "the Killing Claw" on anyone, even Charles Manson with a gun to your grandmother's head, and you'd better learn to like big hairy men very personally.

Other than that, I both totally respect your independence to made your decisions on your own criteria, and I dislike companies that blatantly rip off other makers...

Why not consider getting Tarani karambit trainer?

The aluminum model goes for about forty bucks, the plastic one goes for less than half that. Yes, they won't cut, but that's the idea. You can twirl them all you want and keep your skin intact (you still might poke your eye out!)

This way you can get an idea if this will work out for you without spending the extra cash, and the trainers can still be used as non-lethal sd tools.

Twirl them???? Is that what the finger loop is for???
I just thought it for a retention thing...

Ok...Just how does one use a karambit anyway???

imho thats just plain wrong, if ya meet the criteria to use deadly force against someone, if ya are legally justified, it makes not one iota of difference what the tool/implement/firearm/etc is called. either you are justified or you are not. what diff could that make if ya are legally justified, what is the charge, using a non PC knife lol? i could see if the knife is not legal, gun is carried illegally (though in more than one case i know of the DA wont charge you with anything if you were justified) but because the name is non PC?? not in texas, anyway.

this is not an endorsment of the 'killing claw" either by the way.

The "bad name" issue gets tossed around a lot (thanks to Massad Ayoob  ) but in actuality gets played very seldom, basically because it bears no relevance to any individual application of the device. If someone gets hammered because of what their SD tool is named I would contend that they had a less than wholely competent attorney who missed a shot at a valid objection. Some would argue that it illustrates the defendent's state of mind. The counter is that it only illustrates the state of mind of the original namer, not the end user.
