I just got home from Knife Expo 2001, at the House of Cutlery table they had Sebenza with a relief figure of a lion etched/carved in the Ti slab with a damascus blade and a asking price of $1350.00. Has anyone seen other Sebesza's with a relief figure, or was this a one of a kind?

More important question......

Did you get or take a pic of this one so that you could "share" with us?

Hello, I found myself at that same function this past weekend. I veiwed the sebenza in question. They said that there was three of them done. All in the large damascus. The figures were all African. I think the other two were Zebra and Antelope of some kind?
The only other person there that had any of Chris Reeves products was Dennis Wright. He had the whole enchilada excepting the wood inlay sebenzas.... WOW what a display!!!!

GigOne: Sorry I did not bring a camera.
JC: Thanks for the additional info, and Dennis sure does have a great selection of CRK products I'm blessed to live only 4 miles from his shop.

Thanks guys. I was so busy at the show that I didn't get a chance to walk around and look at all the goodies there. I missed that one and I sure would have liked to have seen it.

You have no idea how frustrating it is to be at a function like that with so many beautiful, fine knives and not be able to get around and enjoy them.

It's probably a good thing, though. If I had been able to get around I likely would have spent all the proceeds on customs and brough more back than I took. That would be cool but then the bills wouldn't get paid....that would be bad.

My wife is very understanding when it comes to this stuff but there are limits to her tolerance. Trust me, you don't want to be around when those limits are reached. I know she loves me but her version of "tough love" is really scary.

The Sebenza that you saw is one of three that were made for Bob Miller at House of Cutlery. The knives respectively featured a lion, an elephant and a cheetah (or maybe it was a leopard, I'm not 100% sure)against a bushveld background. The front faces of the handles were sculpture engraved by Gary Blanchard (who is a phenomenal talent!); the handle backs and Damascus blades were done by Scott at our shop. The detail is just incredible and they are collector pieces bar none. The project took about five years to come together, so it is unlikely to be repeated!! Each knife is very much a one of a kind and, in my opinion, cheap at the price.

Anne: Thank you for the history of the knife I saw, I would sure like to see the other two. Could anyone post a picture of anyone or all of them? I agree with you "cheap at the price".

I don't know if anyone has taken photos of them, unfortunately we didn't! As far as I know, Bob Miller at House of Cutlery in CA has two of them in his store, and Gary Blanchard, who has Blanchards in Las Vegas has one. You might try calling them at 714-826-7880 and 702-733-8333 respectively.
