lion steel 440c steel? anybody have experience with it i thought this was a lower quality of steel:confused:

While I don't have any personal experience with Lion Steel 440c, I wouldn't call 440C low quality. Its pretty similar to aus8, maybe you are confusing it with 440A. I have a few Bucks and Bokers in 440C and they are pretty decent, its not a modern super steel, but is a perfectly acceptable cutlery steel.

Don't have any Lion Steel knives in 440c but I do have plenty knives in 440c and can echo what crunky said, Its a good solid steel that usually holds an edge plenty well, I'd prefer it over AUS8 personally. Just because its not a new fancy steel does not make it a bad steel, I'd say its slightly above middle of the road, right under and around 154cm, ats34, and aus8.

I too have no experience with LionSteel 440C. Hawever, after buying an SR 1 at Blade, and after their quick customer service response to an issue I had, I would be surprised if anything of low quality came out of LionSteel. Not too many years ago, 440C was considered to be a premium steel.

It's more akin to AUS10, better than AUS8. I like 440C a lot. HT as always being key.

440c is very decent to echo what everyone else is saying. Don't confuse it with the shop at home garbage frost cutlery "440 series" stainless.

ya i got it confused... and i was wandering why lion steel would be useing what i got it confused with 440a, cause they are know to be a high quality company.. would love to get a sr1
