So what do people here on BF think of them?

They look similar to ZT designs, same price range...ect.

I'm moving away from ZTs now days because I don't find new designs appeal to me and the whole BS with shutting down their forum irks me as well, in paricular their reps on their dead subforum.

Anywho, I'm moving on to other knives and came across Lion Steel and they seem to be pretty well built knives.

How doe they compare to ZT in build qualiyt..ect?

The SR-1 is one of my favorite folding knives! Both ZT and Lionsteel are great companies and you can't go wrong with either. The 0300 series, 0550, ect. are all a hell of a lot of bang for your buck. As spectacular as the ZT frame locks are...I would spend the extra coin for the SR-1. It really is an excellent design, and the word "solid" doesn't do it justice. You simply will not break one unless you are aiming to do so. Bottom line advise: get both!!

Mcrow, I've honestly heard nothing but good things about Lionsteel. I own a Daghetta and it's a great little EDC user. The lock is a little strange but you get used to it. I'm a fan of D2 so it's an adequate cutter in my opinion. And build quality is on par with all the major manufacturers. I've had no issues with the Daghetta and I've used it a lot. So yeah, all in all I'd be willing to bet you'll be happy with whatever product you purchase from them.

I have several ZTs already and like the ones I have but getting bored with their stuff now.

I like the general look of ZTs and thought that some of the Lion Steel knives had similar basic design. However, in pictures they look even more well made than ZTs but hard to tell from pictures.

I own the DPx hest 2.0 which is made by lion steel. There were a lot of complaints about the first generations but my 2.0 is a very solid knife and has good fit and finish. I wouldn't hesitate to get another one.

Own the SR1, Hest Milspec, ZT350, ZT550, and ZT561, all are well made knives, they have similar workmanship and quality, difference is the warranty, DPx has the best warranty I have ever encountered, they will keep on exchanging your knife and pay for return shipping, until you are completely satisfied, no matter where you are in the world. Where as ZT will ask you to go complain with the dealer. Did not have a problem with the SR1 so no experience with their CS.

LionSteel made knives are of great quality plus unique designs. They use a lot of Sleipner, Niolox and D2 steel. Frames on the the SR-1, SR-2 and TiSpine are made from one machined block of either Titanium or Aluminium. Very solid and good-looking knives.

They also make knives for: DPx Gear, Knife Research, Blackwater, Dendra, Pohl Force, Bastinelli Creations and Spyderco LionSpy.

Note: There's also a LionSteel Knives subforum - http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/859-LionSteel-knives

DPx is made by Lion?

Cool.

I had been looking at their knives as well and they looked pretty good as well.

I've only owned one ZT, the 801 and the sr-1 blows it out of the water IMO.

I find zt's to lack some soul whereas the lionsteel definitely has a personality. I also think my sr-1 is on par with my long gone umnumzaan quality wise.

Some people find that trying just the aluminum version is enough to know if you like it or not but I disagree and find the ti version to be on a whole other level.

This is mine, part of my edc rotation.

Personally, the LionSteel titanium frame blocks in matte gray are the best (SR-2, SR-1 and TiSpine):

I had a tispine but was very disappointed .there is so much space in the lockbar that there is movement in it when the blade is locked. & its so polished it makes it hard & slippery to open.it is definitely way overpriced, too, unless you can get one used, which i did for way less than its asking price, & i still got rid of it. i do have the sr1 & its amazing.i guess the tispine didnt have the massiveness i was expecting after owning the sr1.the sr2 is a better choice than the tispine....

I have a hest/f milspec and carry it while on duty. It is perfect. I had a lion spy and had to sell it. I regret it. I have owned and sold a few 0550's and currently own one. I have no problem with zt, I just like my lion steels much, much more.

Just got a HEFT and it's a well-made blade.

I've been eyeballing an SR2 for light EDC, but I really like a pointy tip and that is the absolute only thing holding me back. The knife looks very nice.

I have an sr2 in aluminum. Well put together knife. Very smooth and extremely solid feeling due to being milled out of one block of aluminum. The blade shape while looking nice, isn't all that great for the way I use knives. I still carry it though.

I have the SR-1 in Chad Nichols stainless Raindrop damascus and it is in my top three favorites. It is a beautiful knife with the one piece titanium frame.

Here's a poor quality pic.........

I have a SR-2 in aluminum. Great knife. Couple of things, the blade is immensely thick for a knife that size, so I had to reprofile the edge a bit, little longer and lower angle for some better slicing. Since you're a ZT guy, you're probably not look for a slicer though. The only other thing that bothered me is it has plastic washers on either side of the blade. I feel like for the pricetag you should get phosphor bronze or even bearings. Quality of the knife is awesome, fit and finish is great. Thumbstuds on mine were a bit sharp, not sure if that's a common thing, I just sanded the edges a bit.

I wouldn't give up on ZT yet, but Lion Steel makes some good stuff. I have a Pohl Force Foxtrot One and its a BEAST. Fit and finnish on everything they make is excellent.
