looking at them they are a bit alike. same lock, similar blade shape, close in size. so when it comes down to it, who takes th cake?

im pretty sure the lionsteel uses better steel and is a custom. the 0300 is a production and uses S30V. check out the spyderco's new lionspy. i can't wait to pick one up!

lion steel uses worse steel and is a production knife not a custom, either way they are both fantastic but the lion steel is much more expensive unless you are getting the aluminum version

D2 is more likely to rust than S30V. D2 will be high maintenance in constant wet and high humidity environment. I'd go for the ZT.

Had both, still have the SR-1. The monoblock handle is a work of art. Plus I simply hate the G-10 one side, and titanium for the other. Chalk that up to an old dog!

seems just as good because the lock bar has a steel insert on both, but I would still prefer the titanium one because I am love with titanium at the moment, also the titanium comes with a different steel that then the d2 on the aluminum one but they are supposed to be comparable

hows the aluminum stack up to the titanium handles? any experience?

Worse steel? How so? The Sleipner steel is pretty good stuff.

I must have gotten REALLY lucky with my Hest DPx 2.0, because I have owned dozens (as a former Reeve dealer) of Sebenzas, and I have never had one lock up like my Hest. At first the lock bar wouldn't go far enough to the the right. And it rattled when I shook it back and forth. I took it apart and bent the lock bar over (way over) and it locks up so good now, I have never handled another frame/liner lock this strong ever. Secondly, I have never had an S30V steel blade from any manufacturer, come close to edge retention and roll, chip or deform properties that the Hest has.
And lastly, I prefer Titanium over Aluminum. :)

I have both, and the SR-1 is far superior. The spliner steel is great, and holds a working edge through hell. The deep carry clip is great for keeping it concealed. The hardened steel tip on the lock bar is something special, and keeps it tight.

On the otherhand, the 0300 is still an amazing knife. the flipper is great and sv30 is well known.

You wont go wrong with either, but I find the SR-1 to be an amazing knife

this has made my decision so much easier! I just purchased a 0350 for $120 but for $30 more I could have picked up a SR1. Few reasons why I wanted the SR1 are because it looks better, made in Italy, and the name LION STEEL just sounds awesome. But I think after reading this thread I'm happy with my ZT0350 purchase. It's my first high end knife.

I'm happy with my 0300. I don't think you need a insert on the lockbar because mine is over 4 years old and has developed zero lock problems.

Another construction point to consider is that the Lion Steel uses teflon washers and LS doesn't recommend using phosphorus bronze washers because they have found that the pb washers bind. I have two of the LS knives and haven't noticed that the teflon washers are a negative, but I would prefer pb washers on a knife of this price point. My ZT's have pb washers. I also have to wonder if the use of the more flexible/pliable teflon washers are in use because the LS knife does not have the exacting tolerances required to use the pb washers. That being said, I like both, and my wife carries the LS and I carry the ZTs.

I much prefer Lionsteel to ZT. I have never owned a ZT because to me they just feel clunky. The SR1 is a beautiful and more refined knife and the Roto lock is fantastic. The SR1 is a little on the huge side though, I am waiting until the smaller version hits.

The SR1 is a little more refined than the ZT-0300. That being said the 0300 is a beast. It is solid, beautiful, and cuts great, plus its american made! Ive had both and I sould get the 0300 hands down!!
