LIONSTEEL CAPLIFTER BARLOW

In case anyone happens to be wondering about stack order and the Shuffler blade, it is possible to access the nail nick from the same side as the caplifter with the clip point blade, but just barely. There is less of the nick available than with the Dom blade, but just enough to make it possible, unlike with the Roundhead blade.

That’s a good looking example. I’m so picky about stag, I’m always nervous to order it from Mike. I don’t want to waste his time with a return if I don’t like it. Is the stag fairly even on your? I’m not a fan of fat/uneven stag that doesn’t compliment each side.

Yes this one is fairly even. I feel exactly the same about stag. I don't like it really fat but what bothers me even more is when the thickness is uneven from side to side. For stag items I much prefer being able to see edge views before committing, if possible. When it's perfect (to my eye) nothing beats good stag, but it's so hit/miss. That's just my taste, I know many people don't mind at all if the thickness varies.

For those of you who have this knife, how is it to use? Does the caplifter dig into your hand when you’re using the blade? Thanks in advance.

I don't find it uncomfortable, no more so than any other multi-bladed knife. Perhaps others will chime in with their own thoughts.

Mine hasnt been delivered yet, but I do have the Lionsteel JK2 with the same lifter and it gives me no problems. I have not done anything crazy with it, just basic EDC cuts, but is been fine

That's gorgeous! How did you roast the stag? I'd like to try, too, but I am hesitant to mess up on such a pricey knife.

Beerlow with clip blade….I love it!

I ordered two Beerlow (my wife is going to kill me...) and I have a 3-piece Jack. I really like having the corkscrew. I just wish I could get a corkscrew, bottle opener, and spear point blade. Extra bonus for a small pen blade. I get a lot of use out of those.

I mostly use my pocket knives for food like cutting an apple, opening drinks, spreading butter or cream cheese. The clip point is a bit awkward for that (though it is brilliantly built).

Great idea but I would like something more along the lines of a slip joint, Opinel 8 sized, with bolsters, and a wide enough blade to spread peanut butter.

Thanks Erik! I removed the scales and flamed them with a propane torch. However, you may want to do some more research than I did on the proper way to do it, because the stag did warp with the heat. Thankfully it was not bad and the screws pulled it down tight to the liners when I put it back together, but a little more patience and research would have served me well. I also removed the bolsters and heated them with the torch to get the gold/bronze tone.

Lionsteel offers a 20% birthday discount, so I ordered a Dom with Ram's Horn. I'm wary of ordering horn or stag without seeing it first. Does Lionsteel send photos for approval on request before shipping?

Your birthday or their company's? Just wondering... August will arrive soon-ish...😉

It would be soooooo cool if Lionsteel were to make an aftermarket system where we can switch scales, add or remove a layer with that bottle opener or a pen blade or anything, really.
