Lipstick on a pig

I will not modify a pakistani turd for love nor money.

That's a precious quote, man. Good stuff!

To add my 2 cents, I would probably have made it very clear to the guy that I was only fixing the little bit that he originally asked, (some guys come up with all kinds of sudden inspiration when they think they have you on a hook) and then spent the couple of minutes to grind it flush. If he's a good guy, you might well get business from him down the road. If not, then you didn't lose much time, and you made at least a token effort to make the guy happy. Any more than a few minutes involvement with that knife, though, and I would probably decline.

I want to see a photo of said knife... some of the attitudes here seem to be similar to a mechanic turning down repairs on a crappy built car for fear of being blamed for the car being crappy. Not doing it because you don't have or want to spend precious time polishing turds, is a whole different story.

It would seem the buyer felt it was worth $60 when he saw photos, then realized it wasn't worth that. Then was willing to put even more money into it, trying to make it look like it was worth $60. I would tell him to send it back get his $60 save the $60-100 in repairs and point him in the direction of a $120+ quality knife.

I dont like to but since it was a neighbor that brought it over for his friend I would work on it. I would charge the shop hourly rate. I wouldnt however try to fix it up like new just clean it up and sharpen it as requested. No sense burning a bridge to future better jobs or sales. If he bought one bowie he will buy another, possibly from me.
