Jos beat me to the draw. Since there is some similarity between Fallkniven's NL5cx and Hattori KD30-3718, and Fallkniven's knifes are made in Japan, is there any business connection between Fallkniven and Hattori?

Cowery X, and ZDP are not the same steels, nor could you call ZDP a knockoff. There are some similarities, but that both have 20% chromium, and 3% carbon isn't the whole picture. There are more to the steels, these are just the only numbers released. ZDP, for instance also has some Moly, and Tungsten in it, a small amount of vanadium, as well as trace elements of other substances.

There are similarities, but there are differences also. Joe

don't know why the OP doesn't want Rockstead on the list? lol

Henckels claims this knife's edge achieves HRC67. Since it was made out of powder steel and only in Japan. My guess (totally no evidence) is Cowery X was used for this knife because when I hold my Henckels MD67, its blade remains me of Hattori ones.

Uhmm, pardon me, originally I checked out their site, zdp wasn't mentioned, later I just missed it. Now, it's there. Nothing against Rockstead, Yuna and all others...

Moki of Japan also lists ZDP 189 as one of their blade steels, so that's another to add to the list.
