just for fun, here are the things from what I have seen.

1- steels
2- Spyderco vs benchmade
3- sebenza worth the money
4- cols steel
5- knife testing methodology
6- Choil or no choil
7- big knives, thick knives

I ciould think of a couple more but ... I don't want to start a war !!!

Frost cutlery

Edit to add: "Lock failure" and those dumb enough to trust locks!
 
This does not start a war, just a small uprising:
People (not necessary the same people ever time) asking the same question again and again "what is the best survival knife?", "I am going to war in country X, what knives do I need", "what is the best X-type knife for Y-situation".
If I could have gotten a dollar every time people asked those questions I could have saved the US economy by now :)
 
Also. not a war-starter but a pet peeve of mine: "Get a Sebenza!"
No matter what the poster is looking for: "Get a Sebenza!"

" I need a small fixed-blade neck knife, not over $50."
"Get a Sebenza!"

"Looking for a 19" hog hunting knife..."
"Get a Sebenza!"

Also Bark River..
From now on, if you need any kind of folding knife, "Get a Sebenza!"
If it's a fixed blade of any kind, "Bark River..."

I have nothing against CRK nor BRKT, but Geez!...

ha ha ha ha ha ... I agree with you, people answering with their favorite knife no matter what the question really was. It's also a problem that a lot of guys read the first post and answer right away without reading the ten or a hundred posts already answering.
 
Don't forget the ol' tried & true "Cold Steel" or "Strider" threads. Haven't seen one of those in a little while.

Edit: I just noticed "cols steel" in the OP. I guess that's close enough.
