Hello all,

Just throwing my thoughts out there for those who are considering one (or both) of the above items...

The Lite Machete is a best in class machete in my opinion. Very comfortable and attractive handles as expected from ESEE. Blade is not too thick yet not too thin. Geometry is great however the edge could have been better (it came sharp but held a handful of very small chips - quick strop and they're gone). Great balance. Extremely happy with it.

AH-1... I thought this was a cool idea (and it is) however the size of this thing is much too small for real world use. Don't get me wrong here, it could certainly be used to take down small creatures (frogs/snakes) and even a few small mammals if you've got the skills to do so but let's be honest - I don't need more than a stick and a knife to do the same thing. A more substantial arrowhead could be much more useful as a spear point for taking down larger game (again if you've got the skills).

Can't wait to take my Lite Machete out on my next overnighter. The AH-1 will likely never see the light of day.

Hope you all found this helpful...

Keep up the good work ESEE!

I love the AH-1.:D

There are plans for a larger version though.

I thought they had mentioned 2 or 3 sizes of them initially. Any idea when the other sizes may come out? I'd love to get a three pack with one in each size when they're all available!

I love the AH-1 best thing since sliced bread if you ask me. It would have no problem taking down a small deer in a survival situation.

I had no idea there were larger sizes in the pipe... This is nice to hear.

Has there been any suggestions as to how large these might be made in?

I haven't held an AH-1 yet, but from what I've seen and read, they are an excellent tool. Sure, you can sharpen a stick, but that is a sharpened piece of wood. Sharpened stick, Vs. sharpened steel? I'll take the steel. ;)

I'am a big Fan of the AH-1, I've been using mine for about a month! Like to see it a little bigger Like Forty said Be The AH-1 Is great!

I have utilized the AH1 in many traps and snares and it is extremely useful in that sense..It is also useful in that it can be easily hidden/carried. 100% awesome..but you have to be creative enough to use it...It is capable of taking game as large as rabbits, no problem....oh and enjoy your new mellon chopper!

There IS a shortage of alternative survival tools in the industry. Spears/harpoons and other similar tools make so much sense, yet rarely do we find a knife perfectly suited for improvising as a spear. How hard is the AH1? The one thing that bugs me about it is the point looks so fragile... if you're using a spear to stab at an animal on the ground or accidentally miss thrusting at a fish and hit rockbed, that point is going to snap right off. I think a broader, thicker spear point made of softer steel makes alot of sense-it can fill the boot backup role in addition to using as a spear. Other tools I'd like to see are more Ulu-style utility knives, chisel knives, carving axes etc-not necessarily the most allaround or high performance, but nonetheless utility tools that have been used by outdoors-oriented societies for ages.

If I'm not mistaken Jeff had said that the there are going to be 2-3 sizes, so a larger one should hopefully be coming our way soon.

Like I mentioned in another AH-1 thread, I think it'd be cool to make a "spearhead" like this.

The choils would be sized to serve as lashing points, while the taper of the handle would provide an additional additional retention. :)

I honestly don't think I have the skills to make a system of deployment using a larger arrowhead to take down bigger game, such as deer, in a survival situation. I do think I have the skills to make use of a smaller arrowhead to trap small animals or gig frogs or fish in a pond. The smaller arrowhead makes more sense to me.

Think Atlatl. Not quite a spear, not quite an arrow. ;)

I think the the original post addressed legitimate concerns. It's feedback like this that helps us determine future products. Besides, what works for some doesn't work for others.
