A week or so ago some one posted a little scalpel type knife and it got me to thinking. Always a dangerous thing. Finally I gathered up some materials. A brass 3/8" female npt to 1/2" compression adapter, a chunk of O-1 and a hunk of Amboyna. I made fixtures out of pipe for my lathe to hold the fitting parts and then turned then round and grooved the body and knurled the nut. Then I turned the O-1 to 5/8" ( I am starting with drill rod next time) and then turned it to 1'2" except for a 1/4" shoulder I left at 5/8" about 1/2" frome one end and then I cut it of at 3" and then used an end mill to cut 4-3/16" slots (2 would have been fine) thru the shoulder. I milled the brass body to have 2 matching 3/16" "tits". The O-1 then fit in the body in either direction and was firmly held in place with the "nut" tight. I used a spare fiting and a piece of pipe to hold the O-1 and grind the long portion into a blade, which I hardened and tempered. I then turned some Amboyna to fit the pipe thread part of the body and slotted it out a bit with a rotary bit in a dremel and then JB welded it into the body. I then used a compession nut, ferrel tightened on a short piece of 1/2" round stock for a jig to mount the body and amboyna in my drill press and turned it and final sand it to 1200. Here is the finished product which everyone seams to like. Think I am going to be be making some more of these. Jim
