Nice weather and no real plans today so I opted to grab a couple pistols and head to the woods. My 9year old son agreed to go too instead of staying home and helping Mom clean house. Well the shooting went well and the kid did pretty good with the Ruger Single Six. Not a crack shot but if a Shoot N See prairie dog pops up, he'll get a hit :) Anyway after the shooting he asked if we could stop and check out the Molalla River so we did. Threw some rocks and sticks and then I got the "What now?" Well let's practice fire. Took three attempts as I had tried to shortchange the prep work. On try #3 I did what I was supposed to and got my tinder and shavings in greater ammounts and by then the kid had snatched up plenty of small sticks for the actual fire. Using just the metal match and wood shavings we had fire! Just a fun day doing nothing more than having some good time together :D

Very cool Bill, I bet your son will look back on these memories and thank you for doing these outings with him.

That is very cool.

Sounds fun. I look forward to doing stuff like that with my son. He's only 2. 3 next month.

Wow,what a great outing. Best company too! So right, enjoy the time. Cool looking SAR you're carrying, too.

Caine-- when you get back, enjoy your little guy to the max. LOL My baby is 19--20 in Dec. Just a little while ago he was 2-3 too! I swear. It goes so fast!

That's awesome, Bill. My 8 year old Son loves to do stuff like that too. He uses my little Walther P22, and while not a crack shot either, it makes him feel like he's one of the guys to be sure. He is pretty sharp with a firesteel, though!

I think I might enjoy such outings more than he does!

Professor.

Going shooting with dad, or doing chores, he defintely made the right choice :) That SAR looks great, really dig that design.
