Little Goodie I Found at Lowes

Just thought I'd throw this out there. I have more RAT/ESEE knives now than I have Molle backs so I have to change them out when I want to wear them on my belt because lashing the kydex sheath to my belt makes the knife ride too high for my liking.

The other day I was at our local Lowes and in the section with the pruning shears and small pruning saws I found a pouch that works perfectly for my RC-4. The kydex sheath fits in it and is pretty tight so friction prevents it from falling out. The pouch has a couple of ways to attach it to the belt with either a clip, belt loop, and split loops.

The little leather name plate on the front is also a small pocket that will hold a small pen shaped diamond rod sharpener.

ADDED: The cost of this little find is only $9.86

Cool, you can run a chicago screw through the whole works down the bottom and make it so you can draw the knife.

Good find!

I bet I could. I'd probably just use a hot nail to make the holes in the pouch so the nylon won't fray. That' a great idea, I'm going to do that when I get a chance.

As it is right now, I can draw the knife pretty easily because the kydex is such a tight fit that it doesn't come out without some effort.

WTH are you serious? I was at Home Depot the other day, and saw this, and wondered if I could use for my knife...but didn't get it. Not the same brand either...but wow...weird.

I just ordered the clip plate for my 6 so it will ride a little lower, I like the molle clips but they do ride high on the belt. Nice sheath, and good idea!

Pretty slick pouch, that would work good for belt carry. Just fasten the kydex to it so you can draw the knife and your set.

If you get a chance to hit a Home Depot pick up at least one of these pouches.

I modified mine with a few slits and rivets to hold a Frost Mora 760 in much the same way as the Rat Pack kit holds an RC5 or RC6. The side elastic "pockets" on mine are opened at the bottom to hold a 2AA Mini Maglite and ceramic rod.
It's nuts how much stiff this little pack will hold and it has the same carry options as that sheath you just bought.

More than worth the $5.00.

Way more.

Nice idea with the pruning sheath BTW. Good eye.

excellent idea! yes it's only $9.86 but i don't have an rc-4 yet...looks like i have a reason to pick one up now :D

Looks sweet. Could we see pics of your setup too?

I'll see if I can't get a pic tomorrow. Like you I enjoy pointing out a good deal once in a while but I certainly don't wish to hijack anyone's thread while doing it.

Well, it isn't full yet but here's mine so far modded for a Frost Mora & Maglite.
The rest of the puch has been left standard, for now.

This thread..It keeps getting better and better:thumbup:

I'm guessing you cut the slit on the top of the pouch..Yes?
Looks functional..I like.

Something I've been really curious about:

What are the advantages of having two sheaths on your knife?

I personally have a plastic sheath as well as a secondary leather sheath for most of my knives just for different carry options.
One bowie style that I carry a lot has a leather for wear on my belt, a plastic with 2 straps for lower leg carry and a nylon MOLLE sheath with a kydex liner for it that always sits on my asspack strap for hiking / camping.
the more carry options, the more useful the knife IMO. ;)
