This little guy would be perfect for a young kid's first hunting knife, or an older kid's small hunting knife! Makes for a handy blade to lay around the house and use to open packages, mail, splinter removal, even a bit of kitchen work. The blade steel is 52100, and is only 0.050" thick tapering to a sharp point. Hardened and tempered to ~63HRC for excellent edge retention. 52100 is such a clean fine-grained steel that holds up very well with thin edge geometries and high hardness. The blade has a hand rubbed finish at 800 grit, then polished with "Mother's Mag". The grind is "full flat", taken down to a "zero" edge, hand sanded back just enough to reflect a bit of light, then sharpened. It has thin edge geometry, but thick enough where whittling and torquing isn't going to chip it out. The handle is Padauk, oiled and waxed for protection, secured with black micarta pins and epoxy. The knife is so small and light, it's fun to hold!
