Little prob with Manix clip screws

I acquired a LNIB CE Manix, and would like to flip the clip around for tip-up carry like God intended. But the screws won't grab when I try to install them on that end of the knife. Took off the scale to investigate, and still couldnt get it to work.

Also, these screws are phillips. I have another Manix, and it has Torx screws. I tried the Torx screws on the LNIB CE Manix, and they wouldnt work either.

So does this thing take a little trip back to Spyderco? I'm not sure what else to do, as I really prefer tip-up carry.
