Sometime back I was asked to make a coffin handled knife for someone. I ended up enjoying that coffin shape so much that I wanted to do more with it. But the original design was a little big. So I made this smaller version.
I called it my Little Undertaker.

I have carried a version of this knife for my personal EDC for the past year. After that I've send it off to Ankerson for testing. You can read about the result in his Steel Ranking thread. I liked it so much that it kicked my entire collection (that I had then) out of my pocket.

These are thinly ground for optimal sliciness.

I have three versions left at this time.
  • 1 in Micarta and Niolox steel With horizontal Sheath $150 shipped The micarta is by Shadetree Phenolics (or FOD)
  • 2 caper versions in C100 steel (basically 1095 carbon steel) both with horizontal carry sheath $125 shipped
    • One with White Corian handle scales
    • One with Cocobolo handle scales
  • 1 in 52100 ball bearing steel, no handle scales but covered in a baked on powdercoating. $100 shipped.
    • One with extra holes drilled in the tang and a vertical righthanded carry sheath

Shipping includes worldwide shipping. Payment is preferable through bank transfer (within Europe IBAN makes this fairly easy) or if not possible I'll accept Paypal just fine as well.

Now for some pictures and a video of the knives in question.

Video with me talking about the Little Undertakers and showing off my personal version.

Cocobolo, incidentally, this is the last knife I ever make with Cocobolo. So it's a rarity. While making this knife I got some Cocobolo dust in my tear ducts which triggered an allergic reaction that took me out of work for 6 days. So I'll never work with it again. It IS however a lovely piece of striped wood.

And the 52100 steel version without scales.

hey alexander, like i said on fb, one of these days i will write you about one of your knives ;)
i second your feelings about cocobolo. actually many of the more exotic woods are rather aggressive and their dust tends to produce allergic reactions. ebony as well. apart from being a pain to work with that was one reason for never using it again after my first try at making a knife handle. another reason is that a bowyer told me that ebony can actually still shrink and grow after fitting. don't know how true that is. anyways, the dust from it was rather vile stuff.

so good luck on selling you knives, i like them alot!

Thanks Florian. I've not had any problems with Ebony yet....but I bought some nice scales at the last show...so maybe that'll be the next wood I scrap off my list LOL.

Rolf, it should be there any day now. I sent that one around the same time I sent some other knives to the US and they've all dropped by now.

I just received the knife (I happen to live in the same country) and just like Lycosa said, I love the knife. For me, it's the perfect edc size, I can rock it in the pocket or just on the belt. Nice belly, came razor sharp. The sheath is great, thick nice leather and implements the shape of the blade and handle very nice.

A great workhorse and for 100$ it's a steal

Glad you're happy.

No one looking for a slicey little knife? I've still got the three left.

The Stainless one comes in a steel (and grind) that performed very well in Jim Ankersons Test. If you give it a try you'll love it!

Three still available. You'll love the steel on all three of them. I've tested the Niolox steel extensively through EDC carry for a whole year and the C100 steel I've done a LOT of leather cutting with in a grind this thin there's nothing that cuts quite like it.
