LIVE Q & A with Jeff Randall

I knew I missed some fun! I wanted to ask you if it was true, out in the wilderness do you guys dance naked around the fire, and scream/howl at the moon...

Damn it...sexually debach filled questions? ... this is what I get for working...studying...and not getting into the chat...

I will always feel like I missed out...

I'll never get to ask if Jeff really has a Tinker Bell tattoo on him, or that just rumors...

:(

He's not into tattoo's. He has Tinkerbell branded on his bum. :)

I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT!!!!

jk. ;)

Hey Jeff? What're your thoughts on Cold Steel Knives, and their Machetes? People keep giving me some of their stuff, a few others have said bad things about them, but I was curious as to their practical use, and if iyo they could be counted on.

I've been taking local classes as well, for sword play. My old man just gave me one of their swords.

And a dvd, showing them doing abuse test on them?

Confused right now on their products. So many haters online and bias reviews, then theres so many fanboys and again bias reviews. Should I keep the blades given to me? Or sell them? Looking for an honest opinion from someone who hard uses everything, I've gotten a chance to read some of your stuff in Swat mag, so I thought you would be a perfect person to ask.

Please btw, don't post pics of your branded tinker keaster ;)

LS - I've owned and used a handfull of the CS knives.
some are great, some not so great.
the Machete's are pretty decent, but you will roll the edge if chopping into something really hard, like a honey locust knot.
which blades have you been given?
the trailmaster & recon scout are generally considered pretty decent.
I like their cheap little pukko knife, and the bushman is great "bang for the buck".
I consider most of their higher priced items to be overpriced -- but that's because I don't see them as safe queens/collector's items.
Not much experience with their swords, but like the looks of the Viking model. (I know, what a surprise)

I went to check them, I guess my wife has them with my other bag at place in Nor Cal, I will have to wait and see, Cause I watched their dvds and the items looked great and the owner guy looks like hes pissed or something, so I wanted to check them out, but then people started giving me some of their items.

A guy named Myke Hawke also suggested them on email convo with him, ex soldier, and etc along the lines of someone more knowledgeable than I lol. He was the guide and observer on the bizarre foods ep where Andrew had to survive on an island?

Hawke...I haven't talked to him in years. He and I go way back when he was doing stuff with Jay Stanka and SpecOps. Tell him I said hi if you talk with him again. Hell, tell him to email me and we'll send him some knives to play with.

I have some CS stuff, some of their knives are my favorite users-the GI tanto I reprofiled into an awesome beater and the Finn Bear simply rocks. Not a fan of stainless steel used in machetes to begin with so I stayed away from those but they have some no BS users that after 15 minutes with a bastard file perform with the top dogs. Are they RAT quality? No, but may of their knives can be worth the money 5 times over.

Can do Jeff! This is what I sent his way.
