Live reports from Post Falls!!

This is HonkerRusty from Idaho. Just returned from the Wednesday night banquet. Nice affair. About 150 people attending. BCCI inducted 8 guys into the new BCCI Hall of Fame during the evening. Chuck Buck was one of them. You will learn about the other 7 when the Newsletter comes out, or, maybe from someone else other than me. A member had just returned from Iraq and he was at the Banquet. Chuck presented him with a thank you knife. Lots of door prizes, recognition plaques, and special knives given to Special folks. Mike K. and his wife greeted everyone as we entered the Ball Room. I'm displaying and have to be at the Factory at 5:00 in the morning to be one of several people interviewed by a Spokane TV station. Better hit the sack. I'm really looking forward to the seminars and Factory Tour tomorrow.

The event started off Great, when i found 334 Dave his jar was already empty lololol, just kidding. lots of recoginizable people, like Chuck Buck, David Yellowhorse, CJ, Josh, Sara, Ena, Mike Kearins, Joe Houser,Larry Oden, John and Jack Foresman, Wild Bill Cody, Leroy Remer, 334dave, haebbie, haebbie is very excited to be here, he's a great person, Thanks for making it haebbie, there are lots of others but i need to put faces with names, tomorrow should be great with the seminars and friday seminars, then Friday is a BBQ at Chuck Buck's house, everyone's invited.

Thanks for the pics and info, guys! I can't be there in person, but I am sure there in spirit.

I heard Habbie was interviewed this morning on local TV [its the accent!] A bunch of BCCI'ers were rampaging thru box after box of rare/proto/odd/weird/ sheaths! Like kids in a candy store....The big 'VALUT' sale is going off in a few hours...I hope nobody gets hurt!

I just talked to Dave at the sale and he said it was a mad house! He was at the front of the line ...At first he said one person grabed all the 112s but then another he talked to said only the one Dave had was the only one put out.....That was a repair with a desiners choice blade/black micarta wich 'might' be a BG42....Oh well....................No 112 dreams tonight.....But there is a lot of Buck-Joy in Post Falls !!!! Dave is worried Karen will ^%@##@#$%^*&$%34 LOL!!! WE NEED PICS !!!!!1

HonkerRusty Here: I'll let others send pictures. What a great day. Memorable, informative, lot of meeting folks, and fellowship with men and ladies. The sessions were "Primo". If I knew for a fact who is reading this Post, I would give my impresssions of who was good, etc. I can say that President John, Leroy Remer and Wilde Bill Cody gave an excellent session on Buck Customs. Wow, do I admire John's complete collection, and the supurb work of true artists in Leroy and Wilde Bill. I really listened up to David Yellowhorse's session. Great sense of humor, great talent, and very knowledgeable. Mike K. was in the same seminar group with me all day. The Factory tour was quick, but we enjoyed it. Most of the displays featured 110's and fixed blades. With my little display of 700's I just hunkered in the corner of the corral while the Stallions pranced and did their thing. Larry Oden has done his usual good job, with the help of Joe H., President John and others in organizing the events. Several wives have worked hard at the BCCI table. There were lots of knives for sale tonight at the auction. I sold some and bought a few. There were some good deals. As weak as I am, I want one of every kind, but have disciplined myself to seek only the ones I collect. Tomorrow we go to Chuck and Lori's House for a picnic. When I ride in his '57 Chev. my trip will be complete. I will go home a happy man. I graduated in 1957.

Boy, I remember when I bought my first 57 chevy for $50 and sold it to my best friend for a $100... ... That was the good old days... :D ... Now I buy Buck knives for $$$$...

The sale was set up odd..All the knives were in small boxes stuffed in BIG boxes with a price labeled on it ... A 20.00 box a 100.00 box ect. A EASTERBUCK HUNT! I did end up with 2 knives after all... a clear 422 and the BCCI club 112 in stag with a gold inlay and damasuse[sic] blade...175 made of that puppy.....So I'm in Buck heven after all !

My trip to the BCCI Party was made most memorable this afternoon at Chuck and Lori Bucks' picnic at their lovely hill top home. Chuck, Larry Oden, Jack Foresman and I loaded into Chuck's '57 Chev convertible and toured the neighborhood. Went to see where Joe H. lives. They each have 20 acres. Larry was the driver and Jack and I sat in the back. Chuck was riding shot gun. The car has new "glass-pac" mufflers and that deep rumbling sound took me right back to when I was a senior in high school in Moab, Ut and dragging Main for chicks. I'm sure the four of us in that great car would have struck out - if we had run into any fair maidens of the mountain along the road. The sessions today were excellent. Larry Oden's "How to Build a Winning Display" was top notch. Joe Houser's seminar on dating older Buck fixed blades should have been heard by everyone in the land who collects those beauties. Chuck's session on early family history and the creation of the Buck Knife Co. was heart-warming and special for anyone who loves history, especially about Buck. Pat Donovan gave an excellent session on acquiring print material and what it can do in helping collect. Bruce Dollinger has great first hand knowledge about the 531's and 532's. The knives he past around to the class were absolutely outstanding. We all sat google eyed at them. I talked with Herbert Noll from Berlin. He seems like a nice man and was glad to be in Post Falls. I will leave now and read what others say. Now it is time to begin thinking about the 25th Anniversary in 2013.

Thanks for filling in us guys that couldn't make the anniversary event. Sounds like a memorable trip for the guys that got to attend.

My wife and I just arrived home from the20 year anniversary event and I will post some photos as soon as I relax a little. I got a chance to meet several forumites in person along with a whole slew of other BCCI members. I can easily say that all were great people and a lot of fun to be around.

334Dave and Haebbie were there and were great. Both of them are stand up guys and a lot of fun to be around and made the event that much more fun. I had a chance to meet HonestTom, 300Bucks, HonkerRusty and a few more I'm probably forgetting (sorry). The seminars were very informative. I'm very much a people person though and I really enjoyed being able to chew the fat with a lot of the guys. Leroy Remer, Wild Bill Cody and Michaek Prater were very easy to talk to and the conversations quickly carried over to non-knife related subjects from time to time. George Stinzel was a wealth of knowledge on the 110. I really learned a lot from just having a chance to talk to him. Of course Joe Houser and Larry Oden were both a wealth of knowledge and being in their company over a few days did wonders for my body of information related to everything Buck knives.

There were more great knives there than I had money to buy but I came home a happy camper after scoring a few good ones. Pictures to follow.

...Thanks a bunch Mike...The running descriptives of the anniversary get-together that all you guys are kind enough to give to us are really appreciated. We all would have loved to be there with ya. Really glad you're all having or had a great time...
