"live steel duelling"

Hugh,

I agree wholeheartedly, except for that bit about Highlander. What did you see as the point of the original movie, and in what way was it missed by subsequent offerings? Just curious.

Hey Hugh,

I second Phil's question, I have to admit that I liked the t.v. series far better then I did the movies (any of them). However I thought the premise was essentially the same i.e. that there were these immortals wandering about killing each other off and eventually there would be only one left. If you are referring to Duncan's penchant for not just willy nilly killing off every immortal that he comes across I guess that is sort of different from the movie. :)

To me, the best and most ironic point in the first movie was that one of the things that the Highlander won with being the last was mortality. At one point, he or Sean Connery says that the winner will be able to have children and to live as a normal human as well as having all of those powers. I truely loved that. And if you can prove that I am wrong, I don't really want to know, as that is my favorite part of the movie. As far as the TV show went, the only ones that I liked were when they went back in history, but then, what the Hell, I'm a Living History type myself. The rest were too much like H.P. Lovecraft, terminally grim, and that from a fan of "The Twilight Zone"

Hey Hugh,

No I think your recollection of the movie is pretty accurate. I always thought the movie was the grim one though. :)

Hello,
I truly loved the film, music from Queen, superb.

The series for a bit of light hearted fun.

Detested the sequel(s) (including the film version of Duncan & Connor fighting & Connor getting his head chopped off:rolleyes: , how he then goes on to beat everyone else escapes me though:confused: )

Best bits for me too were the "history" flashbacks:) (esp the one where Connor's drunk & has a duel:D )
