Is the Grey Ghost walking stick the same as the heavy duty grey Walkabout? If so I have two and they are good walking sticks and would also be good for defense.

Banger;

If you have a problem email me yourself. I try to answer each email within 24 too 36 hours on the average right now. At one time I answered quicker but my life doesn't hinge on the computer right now.

I use my real name, and post under my real name. If you have a problem with me then you need to email me direct. By the way if you email me use your real name because I do not have a customer named Banger.

Well, I do think it sucks that people have money tied up with no sure time when they will get their stuff. However there are those who do rip people off on this forum, take the money or merchandise and are never heard from again.

I think what should be reassuring though is that Newt is here and responding. It does sometimes seem to take a while, but he obviously does not spend hours and hours on this forum like some of us do. I cant imagine the stress of losing pretty much everything and having to admit as much in front of everybody....takes some guts to do that I would think.

I think in this case, Newt will do all that is humanly possible to get the knives out the door. I also think a huge amount of credit should go to his customers that are waiting and being understanding. Sounds like Newt just had more problems at once than anybody can handle, and they snowballed pretty quick.

I had a couple of Livesay knives at one time. That was back when I traded stuff as fast as I got it. I wish I had kept them, especially the ICU. I know it sucks to wait on your knife that is past due, but if you can continue to be patient, I think you will definately enjoy what you get. For those who dont want to wait any longer, that is also understandable. It just seems that in this case, the circumstances were beyond his control.

Newt, I dont know if you were planning on setting up at the Tulsa show in October since you seem to have a full plate....if not hopefully you can make the March (or is it April?) show.

Newt's always been up front and honest with me. Now if he is having serious problems (which I'm sure he is) then he could use some slack and some patience.

And no, I'm not waiting on anything from him, so this ain't a brownnosing post! :p

On the other hand, I wish I had the funds to order more stuff from him. I love his knives. Very good, no fluff, utilitarian blades.

I hope his circumstances improve soon and if anyone has gypped him, I hope they "get theirs."

loandr. have had a GG on order since feb? While yes newt is a real nice guy to speak with I dont know if the business end follow. Ive been promised shipment on LITERALLY (7) diff. ocassions and all I get are apologies and frustrations on his part each time i follow up. i feel bad for the guy, he just cant seem to pick the products up ( he claims all are ready) and put them in a box for shipping, this going on for about 8 months now, over and over again, Its about time i give up on these quality goodies i guess :-(

Russell seeing how yours was the second post in this thread I think it needs too be noted that you didn't have a Grey Ghost Cane on order until this morning the 16th of September, 2003. You had talked about wanted one, but nothing was on order until this morning when we had a email exchange on this subject. I did say that I did remember you saying you would be interested in one, but nothing was ordered until this morning? This is one of my best selling items and I have only been out of stock on them once in about four months, and that was for only about four days until I got new raw stock.

I don't spend a lot of time reading post on Blade Forums the Usual Suspects, or any other forums that might have had the quoted post above. Again as I have said in other post, I would suggest that if you or anyone else that wants to post thread and or complaints about me too use the same name on your post as on your orders if I am to try and follow the paper trail. To be quite honest with you anyone can post anything under any name on the internet and for some reason most people take it as the gospel Why I don't know. I think over all the Internet is just the new "CB Radio with a key board."

I do not post anywhere I do not use my real true name. I would suggest that everyone use their real name or maybe blade forums should just start making the site show everyone’s IP address. Then again maybe I should just mind my on business, but it was only a suggestion. :D

Newt sir we spoke today via email and YOU remembered our previous conversation of the Grey Ghosts prior order....lets chaulk up to poor comm. ??? Please sir, i know you are doing your best and these are tough times but please dont take frustrations out on I . I have posted NOTHING that I havent spoken to YOU about myself first, correct.. You are a good man and a great maker!, lets not have this taken the wrong way, i stand behind what I said as fact. And as have offered in the past anything I can do to help and make the process less frustrating. OK. thank you.

FYI- Very often state "Russ from ocala" under my Loandr. when posting... point taken :-).

In response to Newts erquest I sent him my real name and address and asked for a refund. I will keep everyone informed of his response.

I hope you spelled your real name right, so he can square you away, have talked to him on a number of occasions and he has always treated my well he may not ship on time but if he says he'll take care of you he will no worries jeyr

I did spell my name correctly, and Newt did reply that my knives were shipped eathier day before yesterday or still waiting to be shipped. I will be very happy to recieve the knives or my money. Time will tell.

I ordered from Newt last year, & it took a reasonable amount of time to get what I ordered - & it was worth the wait.
He REALLY went above & beyond the call.
Newt seems to be a very good man, & an excellent knife maker.
I hope his financial situation is resolved.
If he tells you he'll do something, he will do it.

I would like to tell every one about how fine a job Newt does on his
knifes. But I cant I ordered a knife from him over a year and a half
ago and dont believe I will ever see it.. Its hard to respect a man that takes other peoples money for products he doesnt have.I dont know about where he lives but in some states thats against the law.I hate to think about all the other people who have lost money to.I hope you forgive me Newt if I dont hold my breath waiting for you to die from a heart attack makeing my knife.Sincerly yours Grizz from Indiana

Last year, I was going to order a couple Air Assaults after meeting with Newt at a Tulsa gun show. I knew Newt was having a tough time. We emailed and I offered to send the money up front and he could send me the knives when he got caught up. He told me to hold off and wait awhile until he gets back on his feet. Thats pretty hard to do when you are in the hole and somebody offers you money up front. I gotta respect that. When he gets the AA's up and available, I'll buy two...maybe three to show my support. I feel for everybody who has their money tied up and is without a knife. I have a gut feeling he'll do all he can to make things right and keep everybody happy. I think thats the kind of man he is.

I've ordered several knives from Newt and haven't had any problems. My credit card wasn't charged until the knives shipped and they were as advertised. Newt even took time away from grinding one day to take my order and talk about hog hunting with me.

I've had a bunch of Newt's knives and met him in NY a couple of years ago. I also have an inkling of his history, he's been there, done that for this country. That has nothing to do with his problems, just his character and he is not running from his problems now. He could do like another maker and move 7 or 8 times, change his email weekly, and sell knives to new customers before filling what is owed. He doesnt do that.
Business partners screw over their partners everyday somewhere and leave the good one holding the bag. Customers also run up big bills and dont pay all the time.It sucks big time but it happens. He could have claimed bancruptcy or just closed down but he didnt do that. He's working on it and trying to catch up.
I'm the first to call a rat a rat but he's doing the best he can here.
This is also one of the reasons one should never pay for a knife in advance to any maker unless he's a personal friend.

Hang in the Newt, hopefully that light at the end of the tunnel is not a train:D

Newt, I believe the dark clouds will clear soon. Determination and perseverance have a way of finding the surest path to success.

:)

I can say nothing but good things about Newt,I have never met him in person but talked to him over the phone and through email, and the favor he did for me a few years ago,I still cant thank him enough.I do consider him a friend.

Newt,
hang in there buddy, and you know alot of guys over seas have your back and support ya;)

Newt had sent a e-mail to me telling me that my order may have been sent said he would send the tracking number to me haven't heard from him so I sent 2 mails asking to be informed of my order now he won't answer eathier of them. Is this the old knifes in the mail scam?

Have you tried calling him? I don't expect he's glued to his computer with all the work he has to do. I would speak to the man directly before talking about "scams".

Lot's of testimonials, but banger's the proof of the pudding. Newt may be too busy to pay attention to his computer, but he'd be foolish not to monitor and respond on this thread. He hasn't suffered "trial by internet" too badly due to the positive comments, but actions speak louder than words.

Hey moderators, this thing belongs in Good Bad and Ugly, where Newt's been discussed in the past.

Edited to add:

I went over to GBU and there are a few more dissatisfied customers over there. Same type of story as here.
