I am having a terrible experience with Newt Livesay knives. Placed an order for an air assualt over a year ago. Credit Card. Waited and waited. Nothing. Started emails and was told any day now. Finally said he was broke but was committed to filling orders. Waited somemore. Still waiting. Anyone else have a problem here? At this point, they are not responding to the telephone, email or faxes. I'm thinking a hundred bucks just got pissed away.

Every once and awhile, I do get a reply from him to the effect of please be patient. But there are no specifics and then when I start to ask questions, I get NO communication or reply. His site is still up and running and apparently he is taking orders. I would certainly give someone the benefit of doubt, especially in this economy, but he told me on 2 ocassions that mine was next one out. It's frustrating.

I wish I could give more hope but that last time I spoke with Newt he made what must have been the fourth promise to ship my AA's. Nothing yet. Now I hear end of March.

There is a long story as to why there is a delay and that's best told by Newt himself.

He did make an effort to ship what he could to me so I do have a partial order, just no AA's or BHB.

Good luck to us both and to Newt.

i was gonna order a "uji" around the holidays, and newt emailed me to "wait untill he had made some before sending $$, he would EM me in jan when some were ready" havent heard a thing, glad now i didnt pre pay, i prob would have if asked, guess i was lucky.

too bad, his stuff is good, WTF happened??

Newt lost major money in the worlcom fiasco. From there it snow balled. I cannot remember the specifics, but I know that he was working from a makeshift shop behind his trailer trying to get back on his feet.

Hey Mike,
Sorry to hear about your experience with WKC. I have had great experience with Newt. When you get your AA it will be worth the wait. Newt is going through some tough times now but he will square you away.Follow the links to his forums and talk to him it is the best way to contact him.;)
Stay Sharp,
Wali

Never had a question about the quality, as I have some other livesay items. I have read his above reply and am fully satisfied with his response. My issue was going without ANY form of communication for close to 10 months. It was not for lack of trying. I called, I emailed, wrote and faxed. It was only after my post here that he responded. For that I am greatful to bladeforum. With a lack of communication and information, I had no choice but to think I was screwed.

Not for nothing, and I appreciate Newt's reply, finally, but as of Feb 21, he says" all refunds have been paid .." Hey Newt.. you missed me. What is the old saying? talk is cheap?

I have a couple of things to say. First off if you use a credit card and don't get the product you should wait no longer than the maximum time allowed by the card company before notifying them you never got it, and getting a charge back and credit to your account. If you let it it go for a year, that's your tough luck I guess.

I will not pay up front for something then wait for it to be made. Especially a production knife. I will give them the Credit Card number and the knife better ship at the same time the cc is charged. I will wait a couple weeks then contact the credit card company about the problem. Anyone who is collecting money before having the product in hand to ship is violating the terms for merchants that accept credit cards and just using bad business practices that will sooner or later get them in trouble with customers.

Newt is finding this out the hard way. He is a good honest guy and when he was not in dire straits, there was never a problem with his work or business practices. Then I guess disaster hit.
He should not have been sitting on money paid before he had knives to ship. He is one of a number of makers that can make the knives and sell them out almost as soon as they are made. He should not need money up front. It was his mistake to take it. Now he is faced with damage to his reputation.

If I were you I would establish with him that you paid, and just wait. You waited this long, you will get your knife if you wait a bit longer I am sure. He is not knowingly going to stiff you.

Its too bad what happened to him. I wish him the best of luck. He is very talented and I love all the knives he has made me. He will be back and take care of you. But stuff happens, and he has no choice now but to take the hit to his reputation and dig out. What else can he do.

Mr. Mike Marzec;
I was emailed this page in reference to this refund. I did not catch the refund, but as of today I have sent you a U.S. Postal Money Order for the full amount of the knife.

However after mailing I noticed that I forgot to add the shipping and handling charge so that is in a seperate payment. I am sure one or the other will get to you first and I don't want you to think that I have shorted the moneies that is due you.
Thank you
Newt

Happy to announce to all, that I did finally receice a refund from Livesay Knives. My chapter is over, and I wish Livesay the best of luck. My thanks to him and bladeforums.
