LL Bean Rubber Bottom/Leather Top Boots. Yes or No?

Like others I've had the same pair a long time -- since 1988 -- and still wear them regularly. My only advice is to keep them someplace warm when not in use as they take forever to warm up if you put them on cold and head out the door.

I have the Bean rubber mocs; they're easy to slip on and great for nasty, wet days (not much snow down here;)). One thing about LL Bean - their warranty and customer service is second to none.

In Canada, we always bought them as locally made Kaufman Sorel

That natural felt wool liner keeps feet warm and dry.

Sorel is a line of winter boots, currently a subsidiary of Columbia Sportswear.

The boot has long been popular in Canada for its high quality and warmth. The Sorel line was introduced in 1959 by Kitchener, Ontario-based Kaufman Rubber Co. (later known as Kaufman Footwear), and became the world's best-selling cold weather boot.

In the summer of 2000, Kaufman Footwear went bankrupt, and the Sorel trademark was bought by Columbia Sportswear. Following Columbia's purchase, the Sorel brand was expanded to other products, such as nylon outerwear and other work-related garmets.

Prior to Kaufman's bankruptcy, Sorel boots were made only in Canada; today they are imported from China

A long time ago, I had a pair of knock-off rubber bottom/leather top boots similar to those made by LL Bean. I didn't find them particularly comfortable, but as mentioned, mine were knock-offs. Who has the real deal, and what do you think of them for woods walking through muck and snow?

I needed something pretty warm for the snowy winters we get here, so after much looking and pondering I ordered a pair of Wildcat Pro boots from LL Bean:

I've been very impressed with them. I wore them while splitting wood with a hydraulic splitter while it was 7°F; hiking snowy trails; working setting up a nativity set at our church, in the snow; and doing lots of chores and work around the yard.

Very comfortable, very warm, and seem to be very sturdy.

are the Sorel's still good today?....I am concerned since they were bought out by Columbia.........I have a pair (of the Canadian made ones) that I have had for about 15 yrs.......I have finally worn the rubber bottoms down to almost nothing and I need to replace them, in fact I should have done it last winter.......I only wear them for shoveling/snowblowing the driveway or for taking the dog out, so I love the fact that I can slide into them easily without having to untie/tie them up....I will probably just end up going to Gander Mountain or Dicks and getting whatever is available there with the felt insert
