Supplies of Cold Steel CTS-XHP knives are dwindling. There are a few sites still with CTS-XHP knives in stock. Has anyone purchased one since notification that the knives were no longer going to be produced in CTS-XHP?

I thought that it is a great steel and I wanted in on the action before they were long gone so I bought three knives.

My CTS-XHP Purchases:
- Code-4 Spear Point
- Recon 1 Spear Point
- American Lawman

I would like to get an Immortal before they're all gone, but probably won't. I really like the CTS-XHP and think the change really diminishes the appeal.

I have to be honest. I never heard of CTS-XHP steel before I bought this knife..obviously my first of this steel. I heard its pretty tough stuff. This knife is my "folding fixed blade" as it will be put through the paces of harder use as it pertains to camping/backpacking. We'll see how it holds up. I do really like Cold Steels Tri-Ad lock.

Yup. I am one of those that likes assisted opening. I will probably be crucified by saying that.
I have this one, a Kershaw Link, a Protech TR-5 SA, and a couple others.
I also have a couple non- spring assist knives.
Protech Cambria and a ZT 0450. Those are awesome as well!
If the spring assist mech dies on any of the above 3, I will just use from that point forward as manual non- spring assisted

I might pick that CS assisted up. I have a Benchmade Barrage and I do like it. Just a tad heavy for what it is.

I picked up a Recon 1 in XHP. I really like it, but I like S35VN too, and I really can't tell the difference in use.

CTS-XHP should yield abt a 25% to 50% increase in edge retention over S35VN. It will stay sharper between resharpening, that much I can tell you. S35VN might take more of an impact than CTS-XHP without chipping. I don't use my folders for hard use.

I could post some cut test results but everyone has a favorite way of testing and who they like the testing to be performed by so I'll skip it.

Its a good size folder. 4" blade. The G-10 textured scales are awesome!
Pocket clip is very tight. I adjusted mine.
You can choose the DLC blade (which I have) or the stonewash silver look. Both are awesome. The blade has jimping on the front top for choking up. I have never seen this on a folder before.
I would stick with the Swift 2. Make sure it has the safety lock. My 2 cents ;)

I wasnt a big fan of the aus8. it was okay but the jump to xhp was huge for cold steel. I dont mind s35vn.....but feel the xhp was better for the same price points. I made sure I have what I wanted in xhp when the switch to s35vn happened.

I just picked up another broken skull in XHP today (that makes 3). Also, I have a recon 1 in XHP. Both are very good knives that I would kick myself for missing out on.

:) 3 so far . The huge Holdout and AK-47 folder , both in Coyote ( cheaper and I actually kinda like the color with the black DLC blade) .

Plus the Thompson Vaquero Voyager and with got LT's actual signature on the box , which I wasn't expecting . I didn't even know I cared !:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I can easily see buying 2 to 3 more CS CTS-XHP knives...but am I ready to drop another $300+ this month. OY!

I will be very interested to learn how the CS version of HT , etc on the new S35VN turns out and how the real life performance compares . Cold Steel usually does a great job on their steel so I'm not panic buying the old XHP . ;)

Yup, My bud Tim and I were just at the CS parking lot sale in Ventura, Ca.
Saw Lynn Thompson there.
The "future" steel of some CS knives is S35VN.. not so much CTS-XHP.
I wanted to own one in Carpenter steel. Glads I got it :-)

American Lawman CTS-XHP after seeing the Cedric and Ada review. I've done nothing with it but close and open, testing my thumb strength and loving the bank vault sound :D.
