I'll go with a short answer too...NEVER (again) will I loan an knife of mine worth over $30-$40 to ANYONE.

No one can love my knives like daddy can

If there is a cutting job to be done and no one has a knive but me,I WILL DO IT! DON'T LOAN YOUR KNIVES! DO IT YOURSELF!

RICK LEFTIES UNITE

I am not wealthy and have to make sacrifices to collect and carry decent knives. For years friends and co-workers felt I should be willing to loan them my carry knife on demand. These are people in my same(or higher) income bracket. Finally I just stopped and will give them advice and steer them where to purchase knives, but never loan them mine.
Of course like all things there are exceptions,an emergency situation is one and also someone I know is a collectoer and?or lover of knives is the second.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned liability.
Do you realize that if a person cuts himself with your knife you can get sued and lose?
Same goes for a ladder, lawn mower or power tool. It happens every day just ask a lawyer.
And somedody mentioned loaning a gun!!!
It's a pretty sad thing when we can get sued and lose because somebody is a moron but it's a fact of life.
