Ok so I have a dilemma, I have 2 microtech socoms, a mini and full size both from 2002 and both in 154 cm. I have had these 2 knives since then and need them sharpened. Do you guys think it would be ok to trust a local sharpener that does knives for a living, he is more used to chef steel and not familiar with pocket knives as much. He has great reviews but that is from a chef community verse more of a knife nut community. I did speak with him on the phone and he says he can get 154cm to whittle hair. Every 6 months these knives have only ever been sharpened by microtech but they have a 2 month back up currently. Would you let this person sharpen your babies?

Good call I have an aus 8 black coated 511 tactical I'll let him try first, I'm more worried about the coating being nicked or scratched. Aus 8 is similar enough to 154cm I think it will be a good test.

If you have any issue finding someone local send me an email. I offer mail-in services and specialize in modern personal cutlery.

AUS-8 is a bit softer and has less carbides than 154cm but if you have concerns it's better that knife than the Microtechs.
