Man I just learned my local knife store, Advance Cutlery, is closing its doors early next year after over 20 years of being in the area. Pretty sad news. I guess it is near damn impossible to compete with the online world. They did have other quality services like sharpening. Even for swords. Guess it wasn't enough.

Wish there was something I could do... :( I bought as often as I could and would refer coworkers and friends to their sharpening services, etc.

The mall will certainly not be the same without them. What is worst, there is nothing that resembles it in the area. Closest thing is an old store in downtown LA but you couldn't pay me enough to go there. The vicinity is filled with homeless and drug addicts. Almost got mugged the last time I went there. pfff

Edit: idk why my thread got posted here by mistake. Please move to General if possible.

I hate to see a B&M fold. I remember years ago when Cutlery World was a fixture in several Florida malls that I visited regularly. I hated it when that chain went out of business. If you want to stay in the knife business today, it seems like you have to have an Internet presence even if you have a walk-in storefront. All the stores I visit these days either sell online or they have other departments that keep them afloat.

Good old Cutlery World. Spent a lot of time eyeballing the stock there myself when I wasn't eyeballing the girls at the mall. Being 14 there was no way I could afford either the knives or the girls but it was sure fun to check out both.
