Like him or hate him, Bear Grylls has been one of the more popular subjects here since July. Bear is on a media tour to promote the new season of Man vs. Wild that starts this Friday, and he was interviewed by a local radio station here this morning.
Just some notes i was able to type during the interview:
Paragliding Everest opens the new season of Man vs. wild this Friday. Bear said it includes the good, bad, and the ugly.
4 people died on the expedition where he summitted Everest. (I think it was his climbing expedition, but I may have heard that wrong. Anyway, 4 people died somewhere, sometime).
Question asked: Whats worse to susrvive in: Super cold, or really hot with no water? Bear's answer - They're both pretty bad.
New season goes to more extreme locations, that bear says, "stretched him to his limits."
Another season after this new one that is starting on Friday is altready in planning.
When not filming the show, Bear said he's 'not very butch,' and loves his 'fluffy duvets.' He said he can switch the survival mode off and lead a normal family life. He enjoys home life and playing with the kids between projects.
When asked about getting himself stuck in a bog in Scotland, Bear stated that the idea of the show is to illustrate how to deal with extreme situations. Drinking urine, squeezing elephant dung for fluid, and drinking the liquid out of camel guts (new season) all came up as extreme measures taken to survive.
There was nothing earth shattering in the interview. I thought the interview they did with Les Stroud a few months ago was better. You can watch this site for an on-demand podcast of the interview: http://www.1029thehog.com/onDemand.asp. They should post it up in a few days.
Enjoy the new season of MvW! You know you'll watch it! Har har!
