My CRKT M16 which I like a lot, has squeaked from day one. Had it about a month now. My knife store person said he thought the detent needed oiling.
Not sure where the detent is, or exactly what it is, and how to lube it.

Anyone else have one of these knives, and know what it is I am trying to do?

I do have one and it never squeaked. I'll take some pics as my M16 is currently apart anyways.

My parents have the digicamera I suppose I could try my phone.

If you have the guts to take it apart ( I would recommend it) you need to undo the two screws at the tip end (when folded) and take those screws out, then unscrew the pivot and take it apart noting where everything goes. After you got that done, you need to clean up everything under water with soap, dry well, and lube all the washers as you put them together, I would put some heavy grease between the liner and the handle because that liner is not stainless steel. Add a little oil to the ball sticking out of the liner near the pivot. That should solve the problem.

the detent is a little hole in the blade, there is a tiny bearing that fits into it from the handle, and that is what holds your liner lock closed. this means that when you open the knife, that little piece of metal has to rub against the side of the knife until it finally locks open. If you just oil the two sides of the blade down by the pivot, you should be alright.

I appreciate the advice. I am going to get a torx driver here soon, and plan to put in some aftermarket spaces, handle, etc. if I can find ones to make the knife look a little more customized. First time trying anything like this.
