Anyone know the lock failure figures(pounds per inch of blade length) for:
-Military
-Kris
-Lava
-Police
I know they're not MBC rated, but I'd still like to know; inquiring minds and all that.:)

+1 on Sal's post. From personal use I can attest that the military lock is far tougher than it appears. It is my 'go-to' knife at work for tough chores.

I cannot speak about the other knives you mention as I have not handled those models.

Except for the Lava, as far as I know, they are all in the "heavy duty" range, not quite "very heavy duty (formerly known as MBC)".

The Lava is so short that it could actually fall in the VHD range, but I don't know. Never saw it mentioned.

So, no one has any number figures for anything other than the Military? Seriously?

Numbers have never been fully published, which is, I think, wise to prevent haggling over a couple lbs/inch. That is why there are the four ranges: light, medium, heavy and very heavy duty (formerly MBC). IIRC Spyderco has never made a LD (light duty) knife in my knife-time. The unlined FRN models were MD and the SS versions just in the HD range. The new, lined FRN models are AFAIK also in the HD range. The Mili was subject of discussion a few times, so we know that it is in the mid HD range. The others have never really been discussed in terms of lockstrength, but since the Schempp models are essentially SS, I would guess they are all in the HD range. The very short models are difficult to guess, since the lock strength is rated per inch bladelength, so knife that has the same lock construction as a knife with a longer blade, will have a proportionally higher lockstrength. This is why my guess would be that the Lava might approach or achieve VHD while the Police is AFAIK "only" HD. That should answer the question about the Endura as well.
