Lock stick with many compression locks - why?

Good to know! I have a sample of one Compression Lock and it doesn't have the problem. For once, rhino got lucky!

Did just unscientifically check my Smock and Copper PM2 Opened the knives and placed on blocks so I could press on the lock with out any other motion or sensation.

No stick, no pop, no nothing. There is a mechanical sensation of the lock itself crossing the face but it's constant and the spring pressure is much higher and unimpeded by that.

This is the first I have heard all pm2s having lockstick. I have had my fair share of them and never had any issue with it. If you run into a lockstick 1 out 20 times it's probably a bad knife but if you run into lockstick 18 out of 20 knives its prolly just you or something your doing.

That being said, I believe that all new knives locks have to be broken in for smoothest operation. As you operate it the ground lock edges of the metal slightly round and the knife becomes easier to operate. Even Sebenza owners have a break in period for knives.

My gb1 linerlock was a bear to open when I first got it but it is one smoothest easiest opening knives I own know. When disengaging the lock make sure your not putting any pressure or weight on the back
blade and that you are pressing the lock all the way over.

Not just me. Dealers picking them for me have to comb through the inventory to find knives without it. It likely just doesn't bother you.

Was the blade opened with your thumb or by holding down the compression lock and flicking it out? Certainly plenty of knives around without lock stick, but the stick doesn't usually happen if opened by pressing the lock.

When I think of lock stick, I think of trying to disengage the frame lock on a Farid K2, which requires the efforts of two men, a boy, and a large hammer. Once you open it, it's essentially a fixed blade until you can get home to your hydraulic press to release the frame lock.

It has only been that bad on 2 knives, and Spyderco deemed them to be defective and not fixable. Most are just annoying.

Well the Smock is a flipper so it pops open.

I spidie flick open all my knives so none get shaken open with the tab. It's actually kind of small for my finger so much more awkward than a flick.

I have/had about 10 PM2's and one Shaman. Only one of them, a PM2, has lock stick. It's not severe but I can hear a low click when releasing the lock tab. I never thought it's an issue. By the way, I have used this PM2 for years and the lock stick won't go away.

Try using (gasp!) both hands. Pull back on the blade and thumb the release.

Right. I had thought (and heard) that it would break in and the stick would go away - it doesn't.

Only thing worse that having lock stick on a regular knife is having lock stick on a sprint or exclusive. My Para 3 K390 is horrible. Tried multiple things and nothing worked.
