Lock Strength - Manix 2 vs Ultimate Hunter

Fantastic. I thought the Manix may hold 200 lbs. but it was pretty much what I expected and I'm glad. Great job. Thanks for doing these tests.

I like Spyderco, but keep buying more Cold Steel knives after watching these videos,LOL:) .You guys are number one, price and quality wise.

You guys should do some tests against Emerson liner locks and show the results;)
Not to bash Emerson, but we all know they'd never hold up to that kind of abuse. It's the design of the liner lock. Theyre just not meant to support that kind of weight or shock. Personally I'd like to see the Paramilitary 2 put through its paces against the Code 4.

i also would like to see what an emerson can handle or any liner lock that is made right and has the correct geometry.

I would bet that the Spyderco Military could handle more than just about any other liner lock made. That is one of the only liner locks that is done right. I would bet that most Emerson knives would have the liner slipping off of the lock face.

I was thinking the manix would of handle more weight

Thank you cold steel

Please test the buck marksman or maybe a buck 110 I'd love to see that

Ti lite vs. Emerson liner lock.
Kudu vs. Any standard back lock.

Those would be fun to see the results.

An interesting test. When I come to think of it the flat head torx screws used on the Manix don't have much of any material on them or any real toughness as I've found that if you over torque a pivot screw the head will shear off.

I kind of want to see the Spyderco GB, vs the cold steel code 4. Two gentlemen knives made from the same country and city.

I would also like to see a test against the Buck Marksman. Not a 110 though, that would just be slaughter.

Actually I feel pretty good about the strength of my Manix 2 after watching this test. Ninety fove pounds of pressure on the lock is a lot to hold. And the Manix is cheaper with possibly better steel. I can t help but wonder if 135 pounds was all the Ultimate Hunter would hold. By the way I just got the Ultimate Hunter and I m very impressed by it. Fine carry knife.

Not very surprised by the weight hang result, but was glad to see anyway that the Manix held up to the impact tests.

Would love to see some Emerson's and Microtechs up on the chopping block. Possibly some button locks or even front-opening autos too. I bet there are a few button locks that could give the Triad a run for its money.

Id be very surprised if a button lock could do very well. Sure would like to see though.

I don't think any lock can beat the triad or even come very close. Still would like to know how much a pocket bushman and the ram lock deal can take. Wonder if it could hold its own with the triad?

Depends on the button lock. I'm guessing the Hogue button locks would do really well, though not as well as the Triad.
