lockback blade profile before or after HT?

So I have some folder parts that I purchased some time ago. finally had the bug to dive in and make a lockback. I used autocad to design my lock so on screen it looks like everything will be sweet. Anyhow the blade has a sharp point where the "hook" on the lock actually locks the blade open. I probably already know the answer, but I figure if I profile and shape to 95% before there might be a problem with sharp unchamfered edges during the HT. I have free access to a waterjet so I guess profiling after HT would not be that bad. How bout reaming holes in said hardened steel? Thoughts?

I finish the profile to %90 before HT but be aware there is alot of cleanup after water jet, it leaves a sawtooth edge that has a slight bevel to it. The water cuts away more of the metal on the top side than the bottom. That will really screw your lock.

Basically rough cut the profile leaving plenty in the lock, finish the lock and profile to 90% drill and ream holes (cannot be done after ht), HT, do final fit of lock, use a little fine sandpaper to clean out pivot, do trial assemble and finish.

pretty easy ehh.. good luck

I'd also recommend putting a small radius in the bottom corners of the lock notch before heat treat. And deburring both sides of the pivot hole.
