best lockback knives other than the buck 110 i want to pose this question is there lockback knives for the same price as the 110 that are better quality also i would want to know if anyone has experience with the Taylor brands made old timer 70t

You are really going to have to provide a little more info on what you are looking for, there is way too many lockbacks to list. Is there a certain size, steel, handle material, blade shape, etc. that you are interested in? I guess I could say check out cold steel, they love putting stuff out with their tri ad lock which is basically a lockback on steroids.

Here's my question : do you intend to carry it in your pocket ?
or in a pouch on your belt. I find my 110 intolerable in my pocket and must be on a belt.

If in your pocket some of the lock backs are almost un noticeable loose in your pocket but some are best on a pocket clip.

One surprising example :
I have been carrying a six inch blade lock back (with thinner, light scales) for two days both on the pocket clip and loose in my pocket to see what this knife is like. It is quite do able loose in my pocket. < 8 ounces.

The 110 is like carrying a hammer head in my pocket and it takes about an hour and I'm all done.
Super nice knife though.

traditional lockback knives

Try the traditional subforum. I can think of a dozen or so lockbacks that are better than the 110 just off the top of my head. 2 dozen now that I thought about it while typing my previous sentence. No traditionals though. I'm not up on my traditional lockbacks.

Böker classic, optima, and boy scout knife are all nice. Similar to a Buck 110/112

Cold Steel models are all top quality, and the triad lock is a mid lockback design; and the xhp steel models can be had in the same ballpark as a 110, so better Steel then the 420hc; their Mackinac and Lone Star are more traditional styled with TriAd locks, (though aus8, not xhp, however CS's aus8 is as good as it comes) so definitely stronger locking mechanism and with a clip, and equal if not better Steel.

Case Lockback folders are similar to Buck as well in terms of overall build. Not a Buck 110/112, but similar, and in most cases cheaper, and their trusharp (420hc) is akin to Buck's.

Here's a photo of mine I do t carry it much at all even though it's really easy on the pocket. It came razor sharp with solid fit and finish.

I picked up a Puma SGB Warden and Whitetail over the summer. The Warden is similar in size to the 110 and the Whitetail is similar in size to a 112. They are a similar design with the wood scales and brass bolsters. Both cost me less than what I'd pay for a new 110, but unlike the Buck these did not come with sheaths. So far I've been pleased with the quality and performance of these knives. They are easy to sharpen and pocket carry.

Very easy on the pocket.

it's a Buck, but it's not a 110. Buck 500

I have a Taylor-Schrade 7OT and LB7 (The Uncle Henry version) Both are great knives, good fit and finish, even blade grinds, arm hair shaving sharp out of the box, and they hold an edge just as well as my USA made 6OT and 7OT (three deer before needing stropped, not sure how many turtles before they need stropped) As far as I know, the Schrade's only come with the traditional leather belt sheath.
I don't feel "under knifed" when I carry one of my Schrade's instead of my 110.

I really like the looks of the Great Eastern 72 and 42 lockbacks.

i would have to say a lockback for in the pocket carry

The 72 would be better for in-pocket carry as it's a bit smaller than the 42. I used to have a 73 (same frame, but a liner lock). I regret selling it.

Benchmade Big Summit is another, classic look with the wood scales, nail Nick Lockback, s30v blade, 3.75" blade, for just overv$100 definitely gives a 110 a run for its money.
