I have the Lake, Clay, and Centofante lockback book and I am focusing on Ron Lakes section. When he talks about the tang and locklug in the closed position. There is a description and a picture a few pages later, but its too dark to tell if the point of the tang is sitting on the tang or behind it. I've looked at the few wip lockbacks out there and it seems they show both ways. For you lockback makers which position seems to give the most smooth opening and solid pull in when closing? The top or bottom rough drawn picture?

Ryan just shared a picture to your Facebook page on how Rick G does it.
If you go to Facebook theknifegroup page, I had posted a series of pictures that Rick allowed me to share.

I just looked thru facebook "theknifegroup" page and could not find those photos you posted. Can you provide a link direct to them? I'm not a facebook person so don't navigate facebook very well.

I make them like the top picture you posted.
If made like the bottom pic it would be very loose in the closed position.
And probably wouldn't snap shut.
