Not in a very long time🤞🤞 Funny story though, Sanaria Sanaria once stopped to help a motorist with an overheating minivan that he was locked out of on an offramp. He was freaking out waiting for the engine to blow, when she suggested that replacing a window was cheaper than an engine...he thanked her profusely and went in search of a rock😂

Back before the time of key fobs, I carried a spare in my wallet. I locked my keys in my car and pulled my spare out to unlock it. Was so happy that I left my wallet sitting on top of my car and drove off. It was lost somewhere in downtown San Jose.
My neighbor, a retired deputy with the Sheriff's office, left his weapon on the roof of the car when he drove away.

Long story...gun was eventually reclaimed from a known dirtbag...and he (the deputy) got some time on the beach for his troubles.

Happened to me one time while camping years ago. We had an old Ford and our tent neighbor needed like 2 minutes to open the door with an cheap wire hanger he used to hang clothes in his tent.
I was really happy about his help but also realized for the first time how easy it is to bypass a lock.

I’ve done it plenty of times. Twenty something years ago I had a 1994 Corvette. The key fob had a sensor in it that locked the doors when you walked away with your keys, and unlocked the driver door when you approached the car. It was very convenient and you couldn’t lock yourself out. I’m not sure why that’s not more common. You could still use the key manually if needed.

locked myself out with the vehicle still running. Wife had to ride her bike down with the spare key, good thing it didn't happen further away from home

One time I locked myself out of my car while it was running. I took a taxi home to get my spare key, the taxi driver got into an accident on the freeway (nobody was hurt). Luckily I spotted another cab on the freeway, hopped in and got a ride to get my key and my car. 😆
