  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Locking Methods: What do you like or find convenient? What seems most secure?

I’m going to buck the trend and say how I dislike the shark lock. Just seems to not fit my hand correctly. Seems in the way of my use.

I do love frame locks and button locks though
Can try the CS Atlas Lock. Similar sliding operation, but the release is sunk into the handle.

Love the TriAD, Shark, and Atlas Locks. The Scorpion Lock is pretty cool too, but have to make sure you're not putting any pressure on the lock bar when trying to open.

Not all of us that like the shark lock are fidgeters. Hand size and ergonomics, as well as how the knife is used will dictate how it is perceived.
I can make it bother me intentionally, but I don't find that it does otherwise.

Agree. Not sure why it's comfortable for me and not for others. Maybe people are used to the 20.5, but I use the 20 ? Anyways, I would have to try hard to create a hotspot. Interestingly, seems to be the opposite with the PM2, hotspot is obvious for me, but not for others ....

A void hotspot is better than a pokey hotspot, for me anyway. I get a hotspot from some comp lock models as well. I only have a Demko Cub model and the point of the ramp is right under my thumb pad. Perhaps one of the large models would place that point in a better location?

I almost never use my thumb on the spine / back of handle. For full force forward cutting, the lock will be against the Web between thumb and index finger (which is where the comp lock bugs me, not so the Shark lock). Now, my index finger is on the spine/lock frequently, both cutting towards me (2nd index finger joint), away from me at full force, or when cutting on a board (first index finger pad).
