Hello,
This may be a dumb question but I'm extremely unfamiliar with Sebenzas
I Just got a gorgeous large 21 in a trade and it has some pretty decent lock stick to it.

I looked at the contact point and noticed something appearing to be a nick
It almost looks to perfect so I think it's factory design but pictures I have seen of other 21s appear to have a smooth surface
Is this a factory defect? Or just per usual?
Lock stick isn't terrible so I think it might need
breaking in, but some input would be appreciated!
I tried to take the best pics possible
Thanks!

Interested to hear the replies. To the best of my knowledge, not factory and not a defect. Looks either abused or purposely altered by previous user. IMO I would love to see other pictures of the knife, some profile shots of the entire knife. I can't imagine how this could happen through normal use.

There is some deformation on the inside that would be consistent with a drop that couldn't come from the lockbar.

It would likely take a new blade to fix that. I would either send it in to CRK or reverse the deal.

To me it looks like someone 'notched' the lock ramp, purposely, with a file or Dremel tool, to create that "early lock-up" some people seem to want. Looks like an intentional modification to me.

Here are some pics of the knife
It was a light user
Has snail trails as you can tell
I just asked previous owner if anyone else had it before
I'll update with reply
Blade still seems to have factory edge as well

Looking again at those slabs, the bevel on the lockbar where you put your thumb, and the thickness of the slabs looks wrong, as does the colour of the steel. Might just be the photos, but it's starting to look like a replica, at least to me. Please post more photos of the whole knife. I hope I am wrong!

Contacted the guy I traded with
Says he's the 2nd owner

Here's more pics

The knife looks legit in these photos. However, the bevel on the lockbar, does not match my 21s, but they are all a couple years old. Can anyone confirm they changed the lockbar and added that scallop for the thumb? When was this knife born?

He shipped first so mine isnt in the mail
I think I'll reverse the trade even if it's real
Rather not dish out $135 for a new blade
If you guys can determine if it's real or fake that would be good so I can let him know
Here's 2 more pics
Thanks so much guys

I would say it's authentic from what I see.

Certainly looks all legit. I'm guessing CRK made a little change to the lock bar I didn't know about. My newest knife of this model is 2013.

So I'm back to thinking that damage to the lock ramp was done on purpose, or is a very strange and rare factory flaw.

Update:
He bought from a paying member here on the forum just very recently

It'll be out of my hands but hopefully he can figure out that issue with him

im really leaning towards send it back to him
Thanks for the help guys
I'll let him know what you guys figured out

Ok, I just got hold of him he is the first owner and he said he bought it from BladeHQ and he never used it hard. I am also working on refunding the money through Paypal seller protection.

He told me the It is not fair to send it back to him since I mailed it to the 3rd party who might modified the knife. I showed him the USPS tracking and the OP just received it today.

We don't have any idea if this is normal or not (nick) But I would like to see members here post their
SEBENZA 21 blade if it is the same or not.

This will save my trading partner another shipping cost, but I already agreed to reverse the transaction with the OP.

There is no doubt that having a chunk missing from the lock ramp is not normal. The only question is how that happened.

When I got this knife from the first owner, I noticed that area while cleaning it with a a q-tips. I thought i was just a normal design. It was my first CRK knife in hand.
Still the original owner does not want a refund. He said I shipped it to a third party and the third party did this. The third party just got the knife from the mail today.
But I do remember that part of the blade, but I did not occur to me of any issue.

When you bought the knife, were pics available for you to see before the deal or did you buy it without pics ? Do you have those pics? How long ago was the purchase made?
How did you pay?

Here is the for sale thread. I bought on the Oct. 31st 2016 and got the knife on Nov. 3rd. 2016

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-in-great-condition-manufactured-July-15-2015

The original owner insisted that I check the knife first when I get it back from the OP.

I also emailed these pics to Alysia of CRK if this is normal. Anyone has Seb 21 to verify if this is normal ?

The blade tip is pointy and sharp, both side of the blade are clean of scratches. The scales has a very few light snail trail, lockbar is nice and straight. WTF ! I really do not see signs of abused. I am really surprised.

As stated before, this is not normal.. Many of us have many CR knives and this is not a feature on any of mine.
