Locomotive Knife Lock

Now THAT is awesome! I sincerely hope you have some sort of design protection (patent, copyright) on that mechanism because it looks like it has great potential.

As with any spring-based opening mechanism, I'd be concerned about such a knife opening accidentally in my pocket. The bigger the activating button is the greater the chance it will open acidentally, the smaller it is the harder it will be to activate.

I'm also pretty sure that in several locations that such a mechanism would clasify the knife as a "switchblade". I don't know how strong or profitable the switchblade market is, but I know that many people are legally prohibited from buying them. This might limit the profitability of such a mechanism.

But still, I think it's pretty cool. I like mechanical stuff.

The mechanism looks to be work on the same principles as the Hawks' external toggle as seen in the Kershaw ET, although this version definitely seems easier to activate from the spine, which might make it a bit more user-friendly.

A very neat mechanism. I look forward to seeing it evolve.

I don't think it will be that dangerous. Lockbacks and slip-joints snap closed, and I've never considered them more dangerous than any other knife.
