Peter Vido sent these photos of his daughter's log cabin being built, using axes and other hand tools.

Very cool. I like the look of the Scandanavian style joints.

The Scandinavian joints are not dovetailed joints. The Scandinavian joints are round logs fitted into round joints with the logs sticking out at the corners both ways.

Best regards

Robin

Can I please help out? You can pay me in beer and sandwiches. I also like the fact in your pics there is usally snow on the ground, and yet everyone has what I guess I would consider light clothing on. What is the temp?

I'm told that after weeks of winter weather below zero, when it gets up into the 20's (F not C), a day with some sunshine feels nice and balmy.

I've never seen a curved draw knife like that. one more think for my watch list. I would love to build a cabin, and I do give it some thought. But in reality that is probably as likely as getting a date with Megan Fox.

Oops. My mistake. I was just reading a short blurb about the different notching styles and got them mixed up. I do like that hewn beam construction though and the dovetail or the chamfer style notches. They just look sharp. Great work.

Looks like a lot of work but rewarding.....Thanks for posting !

That looks awesome. I love log cabins. Good stuff, thanks for sharing.

Urban Dictionary: golf clap: An exaggeratedly quiet clapping intended as a show of sarcastic support or disdain.

Sorry, we don't have a Urban Dictionary in the house and was not meaning to belittle the builder. Meant to mean Bravo!

Wonderful work ! Nice to know the wilderness skills are alive and well with your daughter. Those dovetails really show off her talent.
