There was some interest in seeing those pictures of the log splitter hydraulic press built by Mark Sentz. These were taken at the First Annual Moran hammer-in a couple of years back. I've uploaded them to a website and I'll leave them up for about a week. Please download them if you want to have permanent copies. If you already have a log splitter with a sufficiently large cylinder, then this may be the way to go...Mark said he only had around $125 in the conversion, which, btw, is easily removable to let you go back to using it as a log splitter. If, however, you don't have a log splitter and want an extremely functional and well built hydraulic press, I'd highly recommend taking a look at the presses Ron Claiborne is building...there are some pics on my website and you can also find Ron's contact information there too.

Thanks for that! You didn't miss a detail on those pics. I really see how easy that conversion could be. My main problem is with the gas engine; too much noise. It gives me ideas though.

Thanks Jeramy, I tried to be as thorough with the pictures as possible...knowing that several years later I'd never be able to fully describe it to someone without them... :)

It's definitely not for everyone, but if someone already has a log splitter, another $125 or so will give them a functional hydraulic press.

...with the recent threads on hydraulic presses, I thought I'd send this one back up to the top from the abyss...funny how old posts are quickly forgotten.

LOL, ok, I'll make you a deal... you come here and do the final project for this graduate digital signal processing class I'm taking and I'll make up some plans and a price breakdown! :) ...should only take you about 60 hours to get it done...it' not due until next Tuesday, so you've got time. :D :D

Yeah, that's because the thread is 8 years old and the OP has not been in the knife supply biz for at least a year or two.

Oh no! Prepare yourself for the lock! Here it comes....here it comes....wait for it...waaaiiittt fooorrr itttt.....
