A guy at my church is DEA. He and his buds all know about Emerson Knives.

This type of thread is so stupid. We get it, you don't like the F&F of Emerson knives! And even as a fan, I can see where you are coming from. There is a reason why there is more than one knife company. Use that to your advantage!

Come on! Mr. Emerson has put the facts out here. When you place facts on a very public forum and you know that they can either be verified or refuted it tells me that Mr. Emerson feels quite confident that what he is saying is true. So far, I have not seen anyone refute what Emerson has made public and it seems that in all these years if he were a liar that somewhere someone with a special ops/military/law enforcement/self-defense background would have called him out on it. You cannot talk about having personal relationships with certain people for years in a public manner without having someone come forward and say, "He is lying!"

Mr. Emerson's willingness to share his story with us and place it out here and tell it in many, many other very public places makes it difficult for me to think that he is stretching the truth. These personal agendas concerning a customer's unhappiness concerning fit, finish, customer service, etc really have absolutely nothing to do with Emerson's involvement in military applications. Just because a customer is unhappy with a product does not invalidate what he has presented out here and everywhere else. Some people act like an Emerson knife is a $5 Chinese turd picked up at a flea market. Please..............give us all a break! This reminds me of arguments with my ex-wife................they never end and we keep arguing the same old useless points!

Do you think some Dev SEAL who was in Pakistan to kill OBL cares about a meaningless bladeforums argument enough to come forward, break an oath he signed with Dev, put himself, his family, and his teammates in serious danger simply by acknowledging his involvement with Dev, let alone Neptune Spear, just to say, "Actually I was carrying a Chris Reeve"?

I think Ernie Emerson has put this out in enough places and either by word of mouth or elsewhere if it were untrue it would eventually catch up to him in some way, shape, or form. Hell..........his presence at BLADE SHOW every year is a great public platform for someone "in the know" to call him out in front of hundreds (if not thousands) of people. It's not like he is saying he is an ex Navy SEAL in front a few people in his hometown. He has proclaimed this information in many public places.......not just here on Bladeforums.com. I'm not stupid enough to think that current spec-ops individuals have damn time to visit Bladeforums.com, but perhaps there are some ex special forces that have been in our presence. Or there maybe be several people here and on other forums that know Ernie personally and have been in the spec-ops community themselves or know someone who has and it is interesting that they have not called him out either.

People out here keep calling him out based on what they do not know. I could care less about their speculation based upon their own personal bias against Emerson. A personal bias against Emerson for any reason still doesn't negate anything Mr. Emerson has said. The truth does not rest or fall on a person's opinion or "flowery feelings" of a topic. The truth rests on facts and actual events. Luckily the truth is still truth no matter who believes it or not. Ones disbelief does not automatically make the truth something to be considered false.

Until someone presents actual facts that show Emerson has not been involved in such endeavors then all of this is just blowing smoke................and a release of testosterone much like it was when we were all in high school!

You may not like the fact the Emerson uses this info. for "marketing" purposes but if it is "his story" and the story is true then I think he has the right to use it for whatever purposes he needs. It does not necessarily make Emerson knives any better than the rest and as I alluded to before...................the truth of the story doesn't rest on what someone else believes. I should add the quality of the knives doesn't rest on the truth of the story either. They are two separate things. I think we all are getting a little zealous about this and in the end the preference for Emerson knives should be based on ones desire to own one no matter what the reason. It's not like the federal government is making it a law that we all have to purchase Emerson knives!

For the love of pete. Emerson's fit & finish are just fine. There's nothing wrong with it. I've handled his knives for over a decade, and carried a 98 commander for years. The fit and finish department don't have anything to be complained over. If anything, since the switch to Stonewash from the satin grey, the fit and finish have made a big improvement. I could understand someone complaining about the hardware choices, or maybe the prices or something, but I've seen much more expensive production knives with absolutely terrible fit and finish with much more rabid followings out there.

Find another topic to complain about.

I take Mr. Emerson's claims at their face value, all but one. There's no way how he can claim that his products are THE knives being carried and used in the elite units. I can't bring myself to buy into that argument, not ever.

However, in our debate of f/f, Mr. Emerson's connections with the U.S armed forces are irrelevant. The reason this debate went tangential from the original f/f topic was because Mr. Emerson answered to the f/f questions with his spec-ops stories.

To summarize Mr. Emerson's points from my perspective

1. Mr. Emerson doesn't give a sh!t about f/f, since his products are built to be tools and meant to be used hard.
2. His products are highly recognized and recommended in the special force community, not only that, it's the only brand they trust.
3. Emerson knives never fail the military guys, but other brands do.
4. People who call him out are hypocrites, because his products are selling very well and he hasn't heard much complaint from his customer service department.
5. For the same reason listed in 4, Mr. Emerson believes he's doing very well and really doesn't need or care for customers' negative feedback.

Lets all hate Ernie and his crappy crappy knives poor poor fit poor poor finish. (now if you morons all buy that crap and quit buying his knives they will be in stock for me to buy) call me a fan boy but I have never ever met an Emerson knife that was not well made and well thought out. I have some I like better than others but I cant knock them they are all great knives. And personaly in an age of whiners and wannabe types I respect Mr Emerson on many levels.
