For sale is my Lon Humphrey Deathwind. This Deathwind has a longer than usual blade (9”
and highly aggressive design. It has a five inch handle with black canvas micarta scales and Loveless bolts. The steel is ¼” thick 5160, but due to the tapered tang and long, tall blade grinds it balances directly at the top of the scales and feels incredibly light and well balanced.
It is a user – I have cut a lot of vines and climbing plants with it, plus it has cut tin cans, cardboard boxes and tubes, and relatively thin, soft branches in many hours of practice. It is still in excellent usable condition, with a razor sharp edge and beyond-ridiculously sharp clip (which is 5.5” long!). It has been stropped two or three times with leather and green compound and shows no edge damage. However the tip has a small chip from the fact that Lon sold it with a Spec Ops sheath that is clearly too small for it. The tip stabbed through the bottom of the sheath and I didn’t notice it for a while, which probably exacerbated the problem.
It has surface scratches as well. I couldn’t photo them well, but there are quite a few and they are all very shallowAny patina is faint and sparse, so overall its surface condition is very good and could easily be returned to perfection with a small amount of work.
Fit and finish aren’t perfect – the grinds and handle scales aren’t perfectly even and show some finish flaws.
For all the use I put this through, I’d rate it at about 80% new, with all wear being purely cosmetic, sheath notwithstanding.
SOLD.
Thanks for looking!
