Lone Star Knife Expo, Dallas, April 9/10

Finished five knives this weekend. Here are four of them, three EDC's and a hunter, all in CM 154.

Hopefully somebody will be able to post some pics from inside the show! I used to attend gun shows in market hall back in the 70s!

Huge fail in the picture taking department, but I did snap this photo of Mr. Ruple winning Best in Show for his Backpocket Folder.

I was fortunate enough to bring that knife home with me today. It's simply gorgeous.

Great talking with you, Bob. I missed seeing that knife below, but this one sure caught my eye. So glad to finally meet you.

I will be there. Will probably only have 4-5 pieces on the table.....

This one I just had photographed by Caleb Royer will also be there.

I have another folder that I don't currently have photos of and I'm going to try to finish two fixed blades. Got a busy week ahead!

I sold four, including three of the four knives in the last picture I posted. We had a Texas Knifemakers' Guild meeting with good interest. As the president, I was (happily) swamped with knifemakers of all levels stopping by to chat, so I didn't get to take my usual pictures.

One thing we did that I got a picture of was to offer an award for Best Fit and Finish in honor of Warren Osborne, who lived close by and attended this show in the past. He was friends with many of the makers in attendance. His wife Betty was there to help us present the award, which went to Jerry Moen. I was on the judging committee for that one, talk about a hair splitting contest. There were four knives submitted that were at a most excellent level, and it was very hard to choose.

Enthusiasm was high, and we had plenty of talent in the room. Some of us sold well, others not so well, just like any show, but overall it didn't seem like there were a bunch of folks buying. Plenty of time to visit today. Overall, it was the best group of makers that we'd had since at least four years ago.
