Lone Wolf Knife

My understanding is that they no longer use titanium for any part of their knives. Even logic says that it makes not sense to go to the cost and hassle of buying and making titanium washers or screws or whatever, if they don't use it for the liner/frame anymore. You can call them on that one but I'll bet you will be wasting your time. If we lived closer together, I'd bet you dinner on that one....:D

Regards

BTW, I believe you that they now use stainless steel on the newer T2's for all parts. I'm just stating what was used to construct my T-2 before they made the switch over to SS. However, some dealers may still have T-2's with titanium parts. Maybe this is why some dealers still list the liners as being titanium. That, or they haven't updated since they started getting T-2's with SS liners.

Phew ! What a relief ! I ordered a T2 (Cocobolo) about 2 hours ago having never even seen one "in the flesh", and had not seen this thread beforehand. I was almost afraid to read it in case I discovered that I'd just ordered a "pup".

Glad to see that you guys are happy with your knives. :D

RedEdge77, Why not the T1 as an EDC ? Hell, I'll be EDC-ing my T2... I mean I'll be carrying it whenever I have justifyable cause to do so, Officer! (Ahem):o
Is the T2 too big for the job? I doubt it, especially if I were to let on and tell you that it will be replacing my Buck/Strider 880SP if it proves up to the task :D

It ain't the size that bothers me, its the price between the two! :D

I too am a fan of rather large knives, one of them being the vaquero grande.

Great comments -

I will probably be purchasing the T1 for $$ reasons. Cant wait!

I posted this in another thred, but thought it applied here too.
I got a Lone Wolf T1 in the mail yesterday, and it is sitting in front of me right now. Seems to lock up very solidly, the CF looks very nice, and the blade came sharp, but toothy. I stropped it some last night, but I feel that the bevel is a bit conservative (i think about 25ish deg per side) and I might just convex the edge and see how it performs.
for the fact it is over a 3" blade, the knife when folded is very compact, not much of a difference between it and my Benchmade 14210. The cf is smooth on the surface, but due to how it is shaped and the texture cuts along the edges, it grips remarkably well. I eviscerated a few soda cans that were laying around at work this morning, and a carboard box, and the blade didn't chip or scratch.
So far my impressions are very high!

After seeing this thread and the SS vs Ti for liners I had bto go back and check my T2. I checked it with a magnet and my liners, backspacers, and most of the hardware are Ti. Clip and pivot are not Ti. That being said I am not sure it would matter much this is a great knife, solidly built great lockup and a real good slicer. I would recommend it to anyone. It is a very light weight big knife, that feels small in the pocket. The edge is very good, and a couple of passes on the strop made it great. I really like this knife, but with my customs it doesnt get enough carry time, I think I will fix that this week.

On a side note; Longstrider I just was in your neck of the woods. stayed there to see the ENG vs SA rugby game. Milton Keynes is a great town.

I've had it confirmed from my supplier, who spoke to Lone Wolf about this... The liners are now made of S. Steel. They were originally available in Ti but problems with QC, longevity of hassle-free service and supply of the Ti has seen them make the change to SS.
Now I'm just sitting back waiting for my T2 with cocbolo slabs to arrive. By the looks of things I'll be setting up a nicely convexed edge on the thing before I get to go " play" with it. Hell, thats half the fun of a new knife for me.. ;)

Rugbymatt.. Glad you liked our town fella! Only place in the UK built on a grid system like in the US ;)
Shame on you for coming all this way and not bringing me a nice KMG in your suitcase to save me paying shipping and Import Taxes though! :p :D Guess I'll have to keep saving my pennies!

Longstrider,
It only took me about 1 1/2 hours to put a convexed edge on my T1 tonight. It sliced through a loaf of bread like it was butter, and then i turned around and sliced a magazine in half. So far I love this knife!

Mmmmmmmmmmm ! :D Shiny sharp things.. Must.. have..more.. shiny sharp things !...

Hurry up Mr Postman!

So far, I will give this a wholehearted thumbs up!
The only complaint that I have is the finish could be a bit smoother, but for the materials used and the fact it only cost $85.... I can use a little sandpaper on the edges of the pocket clip.

How does it feel in the hand? Is the CF grippy or smooth? Does the lock up feel solid?

The surface of the scales is very smooth, but the edges are not polished, and the grip cutouts on the bottom and back on the knife make it very solid in my hand.
Las night after I posted that picture, I dissected a cardboard box most forcefully, and no slippage of the knife.
The knife, for how rough it looks actually feels very good, and I really didnt notice how roughly finished the edges of the clip were until I had opened and closed it probably a couple hundred times yesterday! Sore fingers! :D
