I am trying to decide on a tactical EDC folder and think i have narrowed it down to just a couple of options. Both are around the same price

1. Lone Wolf T2 Hunter Ranger Folder with green/black Micarta handles https://davesknifeworld.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=15498
and

could not find the exact model i am buying

2. SOG visionary II

Really like the Visionary II F*&king cool looking knife si-fi fan from way back, awesome lock too. Do you think the lock would be better than the T2 what about the blade looks pretty fancy but is it a good blade design? I would take it in a heartbeat, however think I might prefer the no nonsense blade of the T2 since realistically this knife will be mostly used for utility infact hoping to never have to use it to defend myself.

PS I am probably missing some options and the price point is probably a bit high for my budget, but since i do not have a big dog right now, and running is not really one options anymore (shattered pelvis and hip socket about 1 year ago) I think a big solid knife would be great to have in my pocket on those late night walks.

Pretty sure the specs on the SOG are correct but see below for the T2.

NOTE these are the specs i got from the T2 seller but he is unsure if this is correct and unwilling or unable to put her on a scale.

# Blade Length: 3.9"
# Overall Length: 8.65"
# Overall Weight: 4.2 oz.
# Blade Material: CPM-S30V
# Frame: Stainless Steel
# Handle Material: Green/Black Micarta
# Fasteners: Stainless Steel
# Pocket Clip: Stainless steel
# Made In: Portland Oregon USA

However I have found many conflicting weights for this knife anywhere from 4.2oz to 7.0oz also nothing is available on the lonewolf website about this knife. Some say it has titanium liners some say stainless I know there are several different versions of this knife could you maybe help me clarify what its real weight is? Also some say the green/black handle is slippery oh ya what about steel sv-10 or the S30V.

I have the T2 in micarta and love it. I think the T2 would feel better in the hand, but the pocket clip is tip down and shallow. The SOG (never handled) would be tip up and deep, with an axis-type lock. I love Harsey designs, and am not that into SOG.

STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY from GREATKNIVESGREATPRICES. Check out the Good, Bad, & Ugly in the Exchange forum for info on this company.

Not sure what that has to do with the knifes i mention?

Welcome to BladeForums:)

In your original post you use them as a link to the knife you are interested in (http://www.greatknivesgreatprices.co...rsey-T2/Detail) and cutter17 is concerned that you will purchase from them as they have a shocking rep.

I have 3 T2's and a T3. I edc a standard one every day.I love them........
I cannot comment on the SOG

id go with the lone wolf, IMO its a great knife, the SOG on the other hand i had and sold almost right away, there was always blade play unless the pivot was cranked all the way and the clip would wiggle back and forth. for the price i think the QC of the SOG would have been much better.
good luck with your decision

The lone wolf for sure , it is one of my favoirites and they have the s30v as good as you can get . I have had mine for two years and it has seen a thing or two . The quality is as good now as it was the day i bought it .

Really you had a SOG Visionary II and sold it? cause of QC that sucks thanks everyone for the info so far looks like the lone wolf is in the lead. Anyone out there prefer the SOG?

I have a T1 and a T3. No T2, but if it is put together like the 1 and 3, I would go for it over a SOG anyday. I just have nothing for SOG whatsoever.

The steel on the visionary II is horrible... Not nearly as good as spyderco or Al-mar..
held an edge like 420 for me..

Thanks for all your input everyone i did the right thing contacted the seller, and him I will take the T2.

Still seems a bit big and heavy bit lighter than a pistol, and almost a 4" blade that will make me feel safer with a flat ground blade should be more usefull than a SOG with is's fancy si-fi blade.
