I love the old dirks, ticklers, fish knives, really any 4"-5" folder with a long, slender clip or spearpoint blade that brings a little attitude to the party. I don't own any vintage examples but do have a few recent releases that I feel are representative of this style. Please share your favorite examples.

This is one that got a away. John Lloyd in 154CM and micarta. It was almost 10" long as I recall. I do regret selling it.

Good looking knives, Jamie! I've been really tempted by the #65 Ben Hogan, but I'm afraid that I wouldn't carry it because of the length (I normally carry knives more around the size of a #15).

The crappy cell phone pic does not begin to do it justice, but the Rough Rider toothpick pictured on the left fits your spec. The sawcut bone and slanted bolsters are downright gaudy. At nine inches it is a real pimp's knife. That's a Cold steel kudu on the right, for scale.

This is a Queen made lockback under the Schatt & Morgan line, File and Wire Series.
The 5th series I do believe, she's 5 1/2" closed 10" OAL.

The next knife in the 5th series was a 5 1/2" closed Toothpick with same bone covers.

Jack,

Beautiful piece and one of which is more than welcome here, or anywhere for that matter  Just splendid. Would you classify this one as a "dirk"?

Dave,

Great knife, love the saber ground blade. What year were these made? Love to find one

Thank Jamie, I've struggled to find a classification for it, it's like an up-market Gulley Knife! :D

Jamie, The Lockback and the Toothpick that followed it were both made in the latter months of 2010.
I see them all the time on the secondary market and with online vendors, the are not hard to find!

None of my toothpicks or trappers on me today, so I am recycling a few photos to bump the thread along some -- this could be a fun one!

Ka-bar fish knife (5"):

Ka-bar jack (~4 1/2"):

Case Appaloosa medium toothpick (4 1/4"):

I'll "fish" out a few of my other big, slender clips for this thread later on... :D

Here's something a little different. 5 1/2" blade if I recall correctly. :D

I don't think that last post was quite what the OP was looking for.....

Steve,

I must say the previous post was exactly what I was looking for, that knife has some serious attitude! The subsequent post shows you have the same good taste in knives as I do :D

Ed, beautiful knife in SS and that wonderful orange bone. Every time you post that beaut I am one step closer to pulling the trigger....
