Thats a good days work. BTW Where do you buy the CPM154? How much does it cost? I think I want some. Does it really hold an edge?

i get most of my steel right from crucible PM me if you want the guys name i do most my work with its the PA office i work with
it is my go to stainless steel if someone wants cpmS30v thats my next step up and just about the last one i will go right now
way i see it it grinds nice and finish is a snap Vs 440c or ats34
ever been grinding on some steel and "find " a "soft" spot and gouge the hell out of it (heres my little sales pitch) cpm steeels dont do that
oki so the jist of things is
if you like ast34 /154cm cpm154 sept for being a PM steel it the same or at least so close it matters not
it grinds better is alittle stornger and you can make it alittle harder
i ll have to post a pictuer of the pig sticker i made (that i was pring a skid apart with when i broke the tip off) it was working great till i went a litttle far oo and the blade was not a "prying " profile

Butch, what thicknesses does it come in and how much surfacing is needed. The CPM steels Ive used in the past were not very uniform as for thickness. Also do you buy it by the bar or by the sheet?

i have tried them all this time was sheet 2x3 feet i for get what the tolarance was on it close to 3/32
but i still have some Pground bar at something like 3/16 i have to look to get the numbers on it
i also have some non Pground bar in v3 that is 3/16 heavy
scale on non ground was not bad not like the chunk of cpms125v that i have to play with
i would think about .020 should clean it up and the 3V was less then that i will most likly loose .040 on the 125v
im not sure how much this helps i ll get ing to the shop later and mike some if you want

sometimes you just want to leave some of the knives the way they come out of heat treat
the colors are as quenched not tempering colors
the temper is 400 as per my evenheat kiln so no i didnt over heat any thats jsut some of the air from in the foil pack

I don't usually get a chance to see knives before thay are finished... That IS some cool coloring on your steel! :) BTW I like that scimitar_ish shaped blade on the right side, 4th down from top. :D

Thx 4 showing!
