Long live Camillus!!!

Darrel Ralph 4" big ArcLite looks like another sweet design:

For comparison with smaller version see:

Small version that sells around $20 (!) is a nice one too. The 420HC steel is probably requires more sharpening but is inexpensive and more corrosion resistant.
I have to think that Camillus makes the broadest variety of good quality and fairly priced sheath knives. Starting with the Marine fighter followed by the Becker Companion, Brute, Camp, Bush Hog knives and the Talon, the ArcLite and EDC. Make your pick…
Way to go Camillus!

I agree, Camillus is coming on strong. The Becker line looks good. I bought a Brute, but traded it, since the handles are too big for me, and I don't use a knife for heavy chopping, anyway. Whole lot of knife for $100, though. The whole Becker lineup looks good.
Then they go and do collaborations with the only two custom makers whose knives really light my fire-Darrel Ralph and Rob Simonich.
I ordered a 154CM Talon, and would get a EDC, but I already have a "real" one

btw, of the knives linked to, only one is a Camillus. They do not make the large ArcLite, and Darrel just started making them recently. Wait is about 4 months, and they start about $275, I think (forgot to ask the price). The regular ArcLite with CF scales is $195.

I agree 100% I enjoy collecting their Norman Rockwell Official Boy Scout folders as well. I think I have every made to date. Long live Camillus.

Just want to chime in here. Camillus has really come on strong lately. I have a Companion, Magnum Camp, and Talon 154CM. I still want to get a Brute and Bush Hog (or whatever they call it now). I think the carbon steel they are using for the Becker line is awesome. It really takes a nice edge and holds it well. And of course, the Talon 154CM is just awesome. I've been looking for a knife exactly like this for a reasonable price. If you want to pay a little more money for a custom, a Geno Denning hunter would fit the bill. If you want a smaller, hand forged knife that is similar, Ed Caffrey makes the EBK (economical belt knife) for $100. I don't have a Denning but I have an EBK and it really is a nice small game knife. But the Talon 154CM is no compromise. It's an awesome knife in a class of its own.

Go Camillus!!!

You know, the Talon line is going to do real well, I'll bet. I jumped in very early and purchased one of the Talon's with Talonite,non-metal, blade material. Oh, gees, what a cutting machine...little expensive but you get what you pay for. Last October, my friend hunted squirrel with me. It was a beautiful Fall day and our 22 cal. rifle's were popping fresh meat off trees and ground cover right and left. We cleaned every one taken with the talonite blade and what a REAL pleasure it was to easily and quickly skin and clean the little critters. I cannot remember how many, but it was a "mess" of them. Blade's cutting edge held up real well ( understatement ). I can imagine how well the 154cm blade is going to do !! Wish I could afford to own both of them.

Owen, Camillus does indeed make the production ($20) version of the ArcLite, as pictured in the second PhotoPoint link. It only comes with skeletal handles (no scales).

I think that Camillus and Rob Somonich have come up with the true American Puukko. The Talon talonite and its little brother the mini-talon are a pair that will be hard to beat EVER!. The size, the shape, the feel and the sheer cutting abilities make this a combo that I feel will last a long time in this country. Its kind of funny, once you are used to using the Talon, the mini-talon just seems to fit with all the same feel to me...they are both super easy to use and maintain.
I cut up A BUNCH of cardboard boxes with the mini-Talon and the edge was not dulled at all (that I could tell).

I LOVE THESE KNIVES!! and they are worth the money because I think they will last forever.

Hi Ron : That did it. Now I'm in trouble. Now what do I do? How do I tell her? She will never understand. I know. She likes my wildlife food receipes and I'll tell her the new small Talonite is for her in the Kitchen to cook-up what I bring home. You see, I did not know Camillus came out with a small brother to the original.....Thank you . I found a reason to own another " American Puuko." SHE'S going to love it. Lets see...where did I put my pup tent, I'm going to need it tonight.

FF;

You are a dreamer, she will never get it away from you! Once you put it around your neck and pull it out a few times (the knife

) you will want to sleep with it next to your bed or around you neck. I love the way I can slice up a grapefruit or orange and just wipe off the blade without worring if its going to stain.

That's what I said

Saw on the Camillus forum where someone is asking for a 154CM ArcLite.
I bet a production ArcLite in 154CM and G-10 would go over pretty well. Probably cost well under half what the custom does....
