I have a CRKS kydex for now but that is only until i get the scout leather MWTIC made up for me (its in the mail now). I will use kydex with it depending on terrain/weather and for storage, but the leather will see most of the carry.
a new sheath is not an option ts a necessity. you prefer kydex or leather?
Be cautious when doing that. I skinned myself all up doing that when I was young and dumb. Only later did I hear Ethan say "the pommel is to pound on not to pound with".I just got one myself and am stoked to use it on my upcoming fishing and hunting trips. It's a great blade with quite a bit of heft. I am wondering how well the flat bottom will pound in tent stakes for me.
I agree 100%! The sheath that it comes with (at least mine) dulls the blade like CRAZY! I strop her to a really nice edge that I would have no problem making a feather stick with, but no so fine that I lose my edge anytime I baton or chop through a piece of wood, just in the middle. And yet two times in and out of the sheath, I have NO EDGE! Nothing! NATTA! ZIP Zero! You can forget about even trying to cut paper, or cardboard, or wood, or pretty much anything. I think that the glass fibre they use for reinforcement is what is dulling the blades.
I am now looking at buying a Spec Ops Combat Master (short) for my 2.
I have owned my 2 for close to a year now, and I have not been able to actually enjoy it, because I haven’t been able to take it any where when its still sharp enough to bite into wood....Oh well, hopefully all that will change once I get my Combat master.
